Sen. Elizabeth Warren sent a letter to the Justice Department for an update on bankruptcy reforms for student-loan borrowers. In November, the DOJ updated guidance to make the bankruptcy process easier. In November, President Joe Biden's Education and Justice Departments released new guidance on the process for borrowers to get rid of their debt through bankruptcy. As Insider previously reported, Biden himself played a part in making the bankruptcy process more difficult for student-loan borrowers. The Justice Department has not yet commented on updates to the bankruptcy process.

Zollner, a world-renowned abuse prevention expert, denounced unclear hiring practices, an undefined relationship with the Vatican's doctrine office and "inadequate" financial and decision-making accountability. Zollner also leads a centre for the study of abuse at Rome's Pontifical Gregorian University and is an adviser on abuse prevention for the diocese of Rome. Last year, the pope incorporated it into the Vatican's doctrinal department, which decides on sanctions for priests convicted of sexual abuse.

The guidance gives federal borrowers an easier path to relief by making the process more transparent. On Thursday, President Joe Biden's Education and Justice Departments released new guidance on the pathway for student-loan borrowers to get rid of their debt through bankruptcy. While the undue hardship standard still exists, it's an improvement in that the clear guidelines will allow for consistent treatment of loan discharges. It also gives the Justice Department clear standards for recommending relief to the judge without having to go through time-consuming investigations, per the press release.

CNN —Paralympic gold medalist swimmer Robert Griswold “maliciously targeted,” groomed and sexually abused a younger, intellectually disabled teammate, a civil lawsuit filed on Friday in Colorado alleges. “The USOPC observed Griswold engaging in this conduct and allowed it to continue,” the lawsuit adds. Griswold, who was born with cerebral palsy, won two gold medals at Tokyo 2020. Egbert and Griswold became roommates there, allowing the abuse to continue and intensify, the lawsuit says. Due to the “acts and omissions” of Griswold, USOPC and SafeSport, the lawsuit says, Egbert has “had to make the difficult decision to leave behind his lifelong dream,” of being a Paralympic swimmer.
