Walz had previously said he visited Hong Kong in “May of ’89,” weeks before the Tiananmen Square massacre in Beijing. During a 2014 hearing of the Congressional-Executive Commission on China honoring the 25th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square protests, Walz, then a Minnesota congressman, appeared to recall specific details of his trip to China at that time. Walz’s 2014 claim that he visited China during the Tiananmen Square protests has been repeated in media reports. CNN —Employees at the Department of Veterans Affairs improperly accessed the medical files of Sen. JD Vance and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the two major party vice presidential nominees, and an investigation is under way. Two sources familiar with the situation confirmed that VA employees improperly accessed Vance’s medical records, and roughly two months ago, an employee in VA Inspector General Michael Missal’s office reached out to someone in the Ohio Republican’s operation to alert them of the breach, one of the sources said. The Washington Post, which first reported the incident, said at least a dozen employees accessed the records. Walz enlisted at 17 and served 24 years in the National Guard before retiring in 2005 to run for Congress.

Kennedy Jr. to appear on New York’s presidential ballot even though he suspended his campaign last month and backed former President Donald Trump. Robinson, the current North Carolina lieutenant governor, referred to himself as a “black NAZI,” expressed support for reinstating slavery, made repeated graphic sexual comments and more. Trump defeated Joe Biden by 1 point in North Carolina in 2020. North Carolina is an vital part of that plan. “Kamala Harris isn’t talking about the historic nature of this,” Walz, the Democratic running mate, told supporters here at a rally. But the strategies of both sides have overlapping objectives, with Trump working to widen his advantage with White men while making gains among young Black and Latino voters. “They both have their qualities, they both have their flaws,” said Hernandez, a North Carolina voter who is torn between Trump and Harris. CNN —Donald Trump’s campaign declined to say Thursday whether North Carolina Lt. Gov. The report immediately rippled through the 2024 presidential race, where North Carolina is a target for both Trump and Harris. “My hope is that the lieutenant governor can reassure the people of North Carolina that the allegations aren’t true,” he said. Another North Carolina Republican, Rep. Greg Murphy, also called the allegations “very concerning” but raised doubt about their authenticity.
