President-elect Donald Trump has carried Nevada over Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential race, NBC News projects. Trump announced the proposal at a Las Vegas campaign rally in June. Harris visited Las Vegas several times, too, after she became the Democratic nominee in the summer. Trump won Nevada after six Republican “fake electors” were indicted last year on forgery charges over their alleged submission of fake certificates to Congress declaring Trump the winner in the state four years ago. Nevada relies heavily on mail-in voting, which Trump and Republican allies railed against in the 2020 election and since.

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Friday rejected Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein’s last-ditch request to be included on the ballot in Nevada, a key swing state. The court in a brief unsigned order left in place a decision by the Nevada Supreme Court that blocked Stein from appearing on the ballot over a dispute concerning whether the Green Party had submitted the correct paperwork. Jay Sekulow, an ally of former President Donald Trump, represented the Green Party. In Nevada, which is expected to be closely contested, the Democrats sued to ensure Stein was not on the ballot. The case arose from correspondence between the Nevada Green Party and state officials this year over language to include on its petition seeking signatures to appear on the ballot.

Our campaign is not working through any scenarios where President Biden is not the top of the ticket. The delay stopped a draft letter circulating among House Democrats that, if made formal, would have exposed further cracks in the party. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer both pushed the DNC to delay the process, multiple sources told CNN. Behind the scenes, the president is not as defiant as he is in public, multiple Democratic sources told CNN. “President Biden is the nominee of the party.

Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford said he’ll take the issue to the state Supreme Court after Clark County District Court Judge Mary Kay Holthus ruled that Las Vegas was the wrong venue for the case. “They’re done,” said Margaret McLetchie, attorney for Clark County Republican Party chairman Jesse Law, one of the defendants in the case. The state Republican Party issued a statement welcoming the court decision, pointing to Ford’s vow to appeal and asking for contributions to continue the court fight. Chattah ran as a Republican in 2022 for state attorney general and lost to Ford by just under 8% of the vote. Also, unlike other states, Nevada did not have a legal challenge pending in courts at the time.

The officials displayed a table piled high with knockoff sports memorabilia including jerseys, T-shirts, caps, beanies and a sparkling silver replica of the Vince Lombardi Super Bowl trophy. Commercial air operations at nearby Harry Reid Airport are not expected to be affected. Ralph Lepore, an airport administrator with the Clark County Department of Aviation, focused on efforts to stem human trafficking, which he said was neither new nor exclusive to big events. “It’s extremely important.”Burke noted that TSA officers were trained to spot human trafficking and that extra agents will be added to handle record post-game crowds expected to top more than 100,000 passengers a day early next week at Harry Reid airport. A trio of lawsuits filed in state court in Las Vegas seek unspecified damages from TikTok, Snapchat and Meta Platforms, the owner of Instagram, Facebook and Messenger, on claims including deceptive trade practices and negligence. The lawsuits were filed just ahead of testimony in Congress on Wednesday by top executives of Meta, TikTok, Snap Inc. and other platforms. John Sadler, a spokesperson for Ford, declined to say whether the Nevada lawsuits were timed to coincide with the congressional hearing. But Sadler acknowledged the decision to file the cases in state court instead of joining other states in federal court follows a path the state took in opioid damages claims. “Social media platforms are a bottomless pit where users can spend an infinite amount of their time,” Nevada said in the Snapchat complaint.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada's attorney general is investigating six Republican electors who submitted a document to Congress falsely declaring Donald Trump the winner of the 2020 presidential election, a person with knowledge of the case said Wednesday. But the probe adds to official scrutiny of so-called fake electors in several swing states won by President Joe Biden in 2020, including investigations in Georgia, Michigan and Arizona. So-called “fake electors” were charged in Georgia and Michigan, and Trump faces charges both in Georgia and in a federal investigation of his conduct related to the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot. He told the Democratic Attorneys General Association last January he feared that making any comment would be seen as partisan. Efforts by AP to reach the other two fake electors, Durward James “Jim” Hindle III and Eileen Rice in northern Nevada, were not successful.

Georgia is the only state to indict Donald Trump for trying to overturn the 2020 election. Donald Trump and his merry band of indicted lawyers and fake electors tried to overturn the 2020 election results in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Arizona, New Mexico, and Michigan. "Those who wish to avoid felony charges in Fulton County, Georgia — including violations of Georgia RICO law — should not commit felonies in Fulton County, Georgia," Willis wrote.

“I have more steak knives in my back from Republicans that have turned on us and stepped on us for their own benefit,” Nevada GOP Party Chair Michael McDonald said at a recent event in Reno. In 2020, Biden carried Nevada by just more than 33,000 votes via a similar path of winning Clark and Washoe counties. "The Republican Party has lost its mind," Cashell said. “Here in Washoe County, we have made it abundantly clear that if you as a Republican damage the Republican brand, there are consequences,” Washoe County GOP Chair Bruce Parks said in an interview. The county, as well as other Republican county organizations in Nevada have formally censured Republicans, like former GOP party chair Amy Tarkanian, after she endorsed two Democrats in Tuesday’s election.
