As a career coach of 15 years, Jasmine Escalera scrolls through career-advice TikTok just like the rest of us, but with a bit more of a discerning eye about some of the messages out there. Escalera, a Miami-based expert with Zety who helps professionals find new jobs, says one trend in particular could be particularly damaging: white-fonting on your resume. The idea is that by including all the keywords from the job description on your document, it will be scanned by an artificial intelligence screener, represent a strong match and move you into the next round for interviews. "It's causing professionals to do something that can be really detrimental to their professional reputation," she says. "If somehow a hiring team picks it up, now your professional reputation, your qualifications, the work that you've been able to do, your entire job application, is called into question."

"I've always said The Trade Desk managed to win in an unfair market — imagine what we could do in a fair market." Since its founding in 2009, The Trade Desk — which operates a demand-side platform for advertisers and ad agencies — has grown into an adtech juggernaut. Having debuted on the Nasdaq in 2016, the California-based adtech company now has a market capitalization of almost $50 billion. In it, Google named-checked The Trade Desk as one of those alternative players in the ad market. Green said he found the comparison flattering when Sundar Pichai, in 2022, named TikTok and The Trade Desk as its competitors.

In Kiser's final year as a nanny during the pandemic, she estimates she took home about $110,000. CNBC spoke with Kiser about some of the financial lessons she learned during her time as a nanny, and why she ultimately left the role. A federal judge in Pennsylvania on Tuesday declined to block the Federal Trade Commission’s ban on noncompete agreements, diverging from another judge’s recent finding that the agency’s move was on shaky legal ground. The decision clears one obstacle to the F.T.C.’s move to prohibit virtually all noncompete agreements, which prohibit employees from switching jobs within an industry and affect roughly one in five American workers. Several business groups sued to block the ban as soon as the F.T.C. voted to adopt it in April, saying it would limit their ability to protect trade secrets and confidential information. Denying the company’s motion for a preliminary injunction, she said the lawsuit was unlikely to ultimately prevail on the merits.

US President Joe Biden arrives at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on July 23, 2024. Biden is returning to the White House after spending nearly a week at his personal residence recovering from Covid and for the first time since dropping his reelection bid. A federal judge on Tuesday rejected a bid by a tree-trimming company to block a U.S. Federal Trade Commission rule from taking effect that would ban agreements commonly signed by workers not to join their employers' rivals or launch competing businesses. Hodge, an appointee of Democratic President Joe Biden, denied a bid by ATS Tree Services to block the rule pending the outcome of its lawsuit. About 30 million people, or 20% of U.S. workers, have signed noncompetes, according to the FTC.

In a June 2024 survey of 2,000 US-based professionals by FlexJobs and MyPerfectResume, 79% said their biggest "turn-off" in a job application is having to re-enter their work history after uploading a résumé. Although the recent grad didn't have tech experience, to Weaver, he'd shown longevity with a company and a desire to take on more responsibility. "The ATS doesn't care. "They don't have time to really parse through a résumé and think if someone may or may not be a fit. Weaver said taking these steps makes it less likely that a résumé will be set aside when a recruiter sorts for certain attributes. Don't fear the etherIt's understandable why people would stress over whether an ATS would block their résumé.

When it comes to AI in hiring, there's a disconnect between how employers and job seekers view the technology. Embracing AI to create matchesThough AI has powered Indeed job searches from the very beginning, it's now matching employers and job seekers in new and exciting ways. When a job seeker views a posting, Indeed uses hundreds of millions of salary data points to estimate the pay for that job and helps the job seeker view how that pay matches their expectations. Indeed has spent the past two years building and fine-tuning an AI-powered job description generator that is incredibly simple and effective. Employers can specify pay, and our AI will compare that pay with local listings and job seeker preferences to recommend competitive pay ranges. This uses generative AI to automatically compose a personalized message to the job seeker, explaining why their job is right for them.

Crypto exchanges have been calling for regulatory clarity in the wake of expansive enforcement actions that have left companies and developers scrambling to move operations beyond the U.S. Crypto exchanges Coinbase and Gemini have both announced off-shore exchange operations. Coinbase also is engaged in a bruising courtroom battle with the SEC over the very issues that apparently prompted the McHenry-Thompson bill. The crypto exchange received a Wells notice, a warning of impending enforcement action, from the SEC earlier this year.
