One of the nation's most prominent and influential couples shared the spotlight with baseball's postseason Monday night as the New York Yankees opened the American League Championship Series at home. Major League Baseball posted video of pop juggernaut Taylor Swift and boyfriend Travis Kelce, a tight end for the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs, in the stands, after previously announcing they would be in attendance. The cheapest price to attend the Friday night match at Arthur Ashe Stadium is priced at $333 for one ticket, according to TickPick, an online secondary ticket marketplace. On average, fans are paying about $500 for the 7 pm ET match, which is the fifth-most-expensive US Open men’s semifinal on record, a TickPick spokesperson told CNN. Notably, the demand to see the lower-ranked American players is far greater than the matchup that features the No. Prices for Fritz vs. Tiafoe match are 231% more expensive for the cheapest ticket compared to the cheap seats for Sinner’s 3 pm ET match against Britain’s Jack Draper. The least-expensive prices for that match are hovering around just $80, and court side prices are about $1,500.

Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens this weekend for the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. The human-to-dog ratio at the tennis center might be 2 to 1, but the power balance favors the dogs. In a tent reserved for grooming, a Lhasa apso was carefully flat-ironed while several miniature poodles were sculpted into sudsy topiaries. This is the second year of the show’s being held in the Flushing section of Queens, with Arthur Ashe Stadium offering deluxe accommodations for the show’s main events.

CNN —Coco Gauff has been crowned America’s new tennis darling after her amazing US Open championship win against Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus. Like Serena, Gauff is unafraid to speak out on social issues or speak up after a bad call from the umpire. “[Venus and Serena] are the reason why I have this trophy today, to be honest,” Gauff told media after her US Open win. Growing up there weren’t too many black tennis players dominating the sport. Despite the many obstacles, Black tennis thrived back in the early 1900s.

Djokovic, a Serb, further solidified his reputation as the greatest player of the modern era on Sunday with a clinical, straight-sets win over Daniil Medvedev of Russia. He did it on an Arthur Ashe Stadium court where he spent most of his career playing the villain in matches against underdogs or longtime crowd favorites like Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. The nearly 24,000 spectators welcomed him with a massive roar, then showered him with the biggest one when Medvedev dumped a shot into the net to give Djokovic the title that has been surprisingly hard for the greatest hardcourt player in the sport’s history to win. “This means the world to me,” he said to the crowd just before lifting the trophy for the fourth time of his career.
