We advise them about golden visas and golden passports — government programs that offer residency or citizenship rights to foreign investors. AdvertisementDuring the COVID-19 pandemic, many American investors couldn't enter Europe, so they are now looking for residency programs in European countries. After this year's elections in France and the UK, we're also seeing millionaires in those countries looking to relocate. I'd advise wealthy migrants to get in on programs sooner rather than laterThe number of applicants for golden visas increases every year.

Read previewThis as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Marlana Hodgins and her son, Trevor. After our friend's incident he brought home his CPR dummies and taught me and our three kids how to do CPR in our living room. I had been CPR certified as a teen, but my kids — who are now 12, 14 and 16 — were learning for the first time. I never imagined that my middle son, Trevor, would soon be using his skills to save a life right in our home. Later, in the hospital, doctors and nurses said the efficient CPR that Trevor delivered likely saved J.J.'s life.

A Pennsylvania teenager had to be resuscitated in March when he went into cardiac arrest after drinking Panera Bread's highly caffeinated Charged Lemonade, a lawsuit says. His ordeal was first reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette several days before Panera announced it was discontinuing its Charged Lemonade. Charged Lemonade contains caffeine from multiple sources, including the stimulant guarana extract. Previously, it had advertised its Charged Lemonade as "Plant-based and Clean" with as much caffeine as its dark roast coffee. During his hospital stay, they implanted a subcutaneous defibrillator, a device that will shock Adams' heart if he has a life-threatening heart rhythm in the future.

CNN —Armani… Bulgari… Versace…The list reads like the directory of a designer shopping mall. It has more luxury branded residences than anywhere else in the world, knocking South Florida, the sector’s longstanding leader, off the top spot last year. On average, branded residences command a 30% premium compared to similar-quality properties in the same location. The deposits for off-plan purchases can often amount to more than $1 million for prime real estate. “There is a big appetite from both buyers as well as the developers, to continue with branded residences,” said Piro.

The sale – for 125 million dirhams (AED) – marks a whopping 242% gain over his original purchase price of 36.5 million AED, or just under $10 million, in 2021. Jumeirah Bay Island is also home to plenty of sandy beaches and a marina for dozens of yachts, high-end restaurants, a gym and a spa center. Jumeirah Bay Island, on the other hand, is much smaller at just 0.22 square miles, and is considered more exclusive. Current listings show an empty plot for sale on Jumeirah Bay Island for 90 million AED, or about $24.5 million. A three-bedroom, four-bathroom apartment in the Bulgari complex on the island is being offered for 60 million AED, or about $16.3 million.
Cargo-carrying space missions can often take years to get off the ground, and cost millions of dollars. Precious Payload wants to be the “Booking.com for rocket launches,” says Andrey Maksimov, the company’s Russian-born CEO and founder. “Similar to looking at the search results of a booking engine, you can view all the commercially available rocket launches around the planet,” says Maksimov. Precious Payload streamlines the process by gathering data from space agencies and rocket launches across the globe. He plans to make the company a one-stop-shop for space missions by expanding to include ground services and even satellite development.
"But if it gets noticed, the flight attendant will have to speak with their manager." This made me realize that there's so much we don't notice, or even know, when it comes to the job of a flight attendant. Flight attendants sometimes live together in crash padsFor some flight attendants, always being on the go doesn't warrant wanting to pay rent at an apartment that you'll hardly use. Williams said there's such a thing as flight attendant crash pads, where you split rent with a group of other flight attendants near the airport. You can't become a flight attendant overnightUnlike some jobs where you can submit your resume, go through minimal training, and start immediately, being a flight attendant requires a decent amount of training.
Narcan nasal spray quickly reverses an overdose from heroin and prescription painkillers. The Food and Drug Administration's independent advisors on Wednesday unanimously recommended over-the-counter use of the nasal spray Narcan to reverse opioid overdoses, which would significantly expand access to the life-saving treatment. Emergent BioSolutions ' Narcan is the most commonly sold treatment for opioid overdoses. Emergent BioSolutions said Narcan would be available for the over-the-counter market by late summer if the FDA approves it next month. Opioid overdose deaths spiked 17% during the pandemic from about 69,000 in 2020 to nearly 81,000 in 2021.
Commotio cordis occurs less than a few dozen times a year in the U.S. Could chest protectors prevent the problem? It wasn't until 2019 that the National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment, developed standards for chest protectors. In 2022, USA Lacrosse mandated that all youth lacrosse players wear chest protection. Though doctors have not said whether Hamlin's injury was indeed commotio cordis, Acompora is glad to see the condition getting national attention. Chest protectors such as this one from Unequal Technologies have been in demand since Damar Hamlin’s cardiac arrest Monday.
Bloomberg had earlier reported that FAB had been exploring an offer for Standard Chartered as part of a plan aimed at building an emerging markets bank, driving StanChart shares up as much as 20%. The Abu Dhabi lender said it had been in "the very early stages of evaluating a possible offer" for the emerging markets-focused bank. Furthermore, the mooted combination of FAB and StanChart would have been subjected to more onerous capital requirements that would burden the resulting lender, a banking source said. FAB was created via a merger between National Bank of Abu Dhabi and First Gulf Bank in 2016. The lender sources around half its deposits from the Abu Dhabi government and reported total assets of 1.15 trillion AED ($313.1 billion) as of end-September 2022.
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Dubai on Wednesday announced a mammoth $8.7 trillion economic plan for the coming decade, aimed at turbocharging trade, foreign investment and its place on the map as a global hub. "Over 300,000 global investors are helping build Dubai into the fastest growing global city." Those include boosting foreign trade to 25.6 trillion dirhams from 14.2 trillion dirhams in the last decade, nearly doubling annual foreign direct investment to 60 billion dirhams yearly, and increasing government spending from 512 billion dirhams in the last decade to 700 billion in the next. The plan also aims to bring private sector investments up from 790 billion dirhams in the last decade to 1 trillion in the next and pledged 100 billion dirhams in annual contributions to the economy from digital transformation projects. The sheer size of the city's economic goals may draw some skepticism, but finance experts in Dubai believe they are achievable.
A potential cause of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin's jarring collapse and cardiac arrest — witnessed in real time by millions of viewers watching "Monday Night Football" — was immediately recognized by heart experts who also happened to be watching the game. In a statement, the Buffalo Bills has only said that Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest, when the heart stops beating properly, and is now in critical condition. While there are several potential causes for Hamlin's cardiac arrest, cardiologists suggested that a rare phenomenon called "commotio cordis" was to blame. It is in this exact moment, experts say, that a blow to the chest in the exact right place can launch an otherwise healthy person into cardiac arrest. But there are several other reasons a person may go into cardiac arrest.
