☆ Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs faces five new lawsuits

CNN —Five new lawsuits against Sean “Diddy” Combs have been filed by both male and female accusers who allege they were drugged and sexually assaulted by the embattled music mogul, who now faces more than 30 civil complaints. The majority of the new lawsuits allege that plaintiffs were sexually assaulted at parties hosted by Combs, with one incident allegedly taking place at the producer’s White Party in 2004. One accuser claims in his lawsuit that he was assaulted by Combs and his associates at a casting call for a music video. Attorneys for Combs denied the claims, but did not respond to specific allegations in the lawsuits. Last month, the lawyers said at a press conference that they were representing more than 100 plaintiffs with allegations against Combs.

Pawtucket, Rhode Island AP —For several decades, the cremated remains of more than two dozen American Civil War veterans languished in storage facilities at a funeral home and cemetery in Seattle. The simple copper and cardboard urns gathering dust on shelves only had the name of each of the 28 soldiers – but nothing linking them to the Civil War. While some remains are hidden away in funeral homes, others were found where they fell in battle or by Civil War re-enactors combing old graveyards. The remains of several more Civil War veterans were sent to Maine, Rhode Island and other places where family connections were found. Bruce Frail and his son Ben – both long active in the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War – were on hand for service.

LAS VEGAS — In Nevada's 4th Congressional District, a crypto PAC spent nearly $2 million on ads this cycle to support the reelection of Steven Horsford, a Democratic congressman who's voted in favor of some major pro-crypto bills. "He's leading on jobs, bringing good paying union jobs to Nevada and rebuilding our infrastructure," one 30-second commercial says. "He capped insulin prices at $35 a month," and "worked multiple jobs to support his hard working single mother and siblings in Congress." Fairshake was the largest crypto-aligned super PAC in the 2024 election cycle, spending piles of cash to support crypto allies and vote out antagonists across the country.

Republicans, including former President Donald Trump, framed the effort in Virginia as a commonsense way of ensuring noncitizens don’t vote. At issue are about 1,600 voter registrations that Virginia said came from self-identified noncitizens but that a US District Court said hadn’t been fully vetted for citizenship status. Noncitizens are not allowed to vote in federal elections; none of the lower court rulings had changed that fact. But documented cases of noncitizens voting are extremely rare.
