None of the top five fantasy players coming into the season based on average draft position is in the top 48 in fantasy scoring. (The fantasy scoring numbers here are provided by TruMedia, and the average draft position statistics were compiled by Fantasy Pros.) Aaron Jones (15.7 fantasy ppg) has been a good pick but left early Sunday with a hip injury. The only bright spot for Las Vegas is rookie tight end Brock Bowers, who is 76th in fantasy scoring (13.3). Brian Thomas Jr. is 35th in fantasy scoring (16.2 ppg), which is second-best among rookie wide receivers behind only Malik Nabers.

It marked the Commodores’ first-ever win over an AP top-five team and just the fourth time Alabama has lost as a No. — Joe RexrodeAlabama isn’t in as much CFP trouble as it may seemThe CFP margin for error has shrunk, of course, for an Alabama team that still has challenging road games against Tennessee, LSU and Oklahoma ahead. Despite a near-even margin in total yards (Vanderbilt 186, Alabama 159), the Commodores controlled the game by converting third downs — 7-of-10 in the first half. Williams’ magic isn’t enoughWhen Alabama needed a big play it called on its 17-year-old phenom Ryan Williams — and he delivered. Then, faced with a fourth-and-goal and trailing 40-28, Williams’ 2-yard touchdown run put Alabama back within one possession.

The trio who had been so dominant in the group stage slowed in the knockout round opener. There’s a pause before Billy Joel steps onstage each night when he makes the subtle transition from low-key Everyman to world-renowned Piano Man. It’s just a few minutes of “not talking to anybody, not seeing anybody,” he said, mimicking waving off potential distractions. In February, “Turn the Lights Back On,” his first new song in nearly 20 years, joined the set list. Joel, 75, promised to keep the show running as long as there was demand. In total, the run grossed more than $260 million with attendance nearing two million, according to the trade publication Pollstar.

CNN —There are 18 weeks of action and then three rounds of playoff games to decide which two teams will compete in the Super Bowl. Social media is abuzz with suggestions that the logo used to promote the Super Bowl each year includes the colors of the two teams who will play in the season’s showpiece finale. What is the Super Bowl logo theory? For this season’s Super Bowl – LVIII which will be played in Las Vegas, Nevada, on February 11 – the logo is purple and red. And with the Chiefs in the other conference, we could have a red vs. red matchup in Super Bowl LVIII.

Elite Russian troops are refusing to launch "human wave attacks," a Ukrainian official said. Former prisoners and poorly-trained reservists typically carry out costly frontal assaults, she said. Over the course of the Russian invasion, it has become increasingly reliant on high-risk frontal assaults. It involves waves of attacks that probe Ukrainian positions and seize small portions of territory but cost a huge loss of life. Russia is sending a new division of its VDV paratrooper force into Ukraine, the UK MOD said. AdvertisementRussia's once-elite paratrooper force is being padded out with low-quality soldiers that are eroding its elite status, according to UK intelligence. The UK Ministry of Defence gave an intelligence update on Thursday on the VDV — Russia's once-revered paratrooper force. It would bring the number of VDV division up to five, from its previous level of four, per the update. Regular order refers to the process of legislative committees holding hearings and marking up bills before referring them to the legislature as a whole. "And that has sort of thrown out the window the whole idea of regular order." The move away from regular order was natural selection, this argument goes. AdvertisementThat assumes, however, that party leaders and the members that put them there would want to have a functioning government. The very incentives that pushed Congress away from regular order are stronger than ever.

A top Russian general admitted his elite paratroopers suffered thousands of casualties in Ukraine. It's unclear exactly how many casualties Russian forces have suffered during the Ukraine war. Favorited by Russian ultranationalists, Teplinsky oversaw successful combat operations last year but was eventually dismissed from his leadership role. This prompted some insubordination from the Russian airborne commander, who even expressed his frustration with Moscow's military brass directly to Putin. The elite paratroopers suffered heavy losses early on and continued to struggle in the months that followed.

CNN —The Women’s World Cup saw a moment that will live long in the memory for 16-year-old Giulia Dragoni as she started for Italy against Argentina on Monday. Dragoni – born on November 7, 2006 – began the Group G clash in the heart of Italy’s midfield and became the youngest player to represent Italy in the competition’s history. In contrast, 39-year-old Vanina Correa was in goal for Argentina – she had already made her debut for her country when Dragoni was born. Italy – quarterfinalist in 2019 – was the strongest team throughout the opening game for both sides at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand, with some late quality from Cristiana Girelli proving decisive as Italy won 1-0. After the break, with both sides not wanting to lose their opening game, chances were few and far between with the teams prioritizing the avoidance of mistakes over attacking recklessness.

"When you have a player like Cristiana Girelli on the bench and you see that you can't actually score ... my choice was very simple," Italy coach Milena Bertolini said. After a slow start to the second half, Italy settled into their rhythm and looked more likely to score. Manuela Giuliano's free kick drifted over the crossbar before Giadda Greggi drew a smart stop from Correa in the 82nd minute. Argentina caused plenty of problems for Durante but could not manage a shot on target until Bonsegundo's free kick in the 94th minute. Hamilton's 104th pole position feels like a first

BUDAPEST, July 22 (Reuters) - Lewis Hamilton has had more pole positions than any driver in Formula One history, but the Briton's 104th in Hungary on Saturday still felt like a first. "It feels like my first pole, believe it or not," Hamilton said after beating Red Bull's runaway championship leader Max Verstappen by just 0.003 of a second. "It feels strange to say that when there's 104 but I don't remember the last time I had a pole, it feels so long ago." On Friday, when he was only 16th fastest, Hamilton said his car felt like the worst, but a day later and he was suddenly fastest -- in both final practice and qualifying after overnight tweaks. The pole lap, he said, had felt like he was hardly breathing.

CNN —A New York City woman was indicted on seven felony hate crime charges in connection with a string of anti-Asian attacks on the city’s Upper West Side, the Manhattan district attorney’s office said Wednesday. The six attacks took place from March 16 to May 11, all within blocks of one another, prosecutors said. Rodriguez allegedly continued to punch the victim after the two fell to the ground, the district attorney’s office said. One of the friends pushed Rodriguez off the person whose hair was pulled, and Rodriguez allegedly pushed her electric scooter into that friend’s leg, bruising it, prosecutors said. The friend who’d earlier pushed Rodriguez pushed her again, and Rodriguez struck him with a semi-closed fist, according to prosecutors.

Jung Yeon-Je/Pool via REUTERSSEOUL, March 14 (Reuters) - South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol will travel to Japan for talks on Thursday with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, a South Korean official said, days after South Korea announced a plan to end a row between the U.S. allies over wartime forced labour. Yoon's two-day visit to Japan from Thursday will be the first such trip by a South Koran leader in 12 years. "This visit ... will be an important milestone in the improvement of relations between South Korea and Japan which has been promoted by the Yoon administration since inauguration," Yoon's national security adviser, Kim Sung-han, told a briefing on Tuesday. South Korea announced last week that its companies would compensate victims of forced labour under Japan's colonial rule from 1910-1945, seeking to end a dispute that has undermined U.S.-led efforts to present a unified front against China and North Korea.

Yoon spoke at an event commemorating the country's historic March First independence movement against Japan's 1910-1945 occupation of Korea. "Japan has transformed from a militaristic aggressor of the past into a partner that shares the same universal values with us," said Yoon. Though Japan and South Korea are at times uneasy neighbours, the three countries are keen to expand cooperation in various fields in the face of increased global tensions, a more assertive China and an unpredictable North Korea.
