CNN —President-elect Donald Trump announced Monday he has selected former congressman and recent Fox Business co-host Sean Duffy to serve as the next secretary of the Department of Transportation. He most recently was co-host of Fox Business’ “The Bottom Line,” after first joining Fox News as a contributor in 2020. Wednesday marked his last day appearing on Fox Business, and he interviewed for the role of transportation secretary later in the week, according to a source. In the role, Duffy would takeover the department from Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who was named to lead the department in February 2021. An overdue hunter in Alaska was found dead Wednesday after an apparent attack by at least one brown bear, state police said. A search was launched, and his remains were found at around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, state troopers said in a daily report of incidents. Investigators know a brown bear was involved because that's the only type of bear in the area, DeSpain said. Alaska has black bears, brown bears — which include grizzlies — and polar bears. SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea test-fired a suspected long-range ballistic missile that is designed to strike the continental United States, its neighbors said Thursday, days before the U.S. presidential election. This would be the first ICBM launch since December for North Korea, a reclusive nuclear-armed state that has been ratcheting up its rhetoric against the U.S. and its allies South Korea and Japan. A man was attacked and killed by several pit bull mixed dogs in a backyard this week in Albany, New York, and police are investigating whether charges are warranted. About 6 p.m. Wednesday, up to nine mixed-breed pit bulls “brutally and viciously” attacked a man in a backyard, Albany Police Chief Eric Hawkins said Thursday during a news conference. It was not known why he was in the yard, which was next door to the residence where the dogs lived, Hawkins said. The homeowner, who is a different person than the caretaker, does not live at the residence, Hawkins said. He said it was not clear why there were so many dogs at the residence or how the dogs got into a neighboring yard.
