They applied more pressure early in Game 3, and now they’re a victory away from winning the World Series. Except when the fastball is playing like it did in the World Series on Monday night. In the first inning, Buehler started Judge with a fastball over the middle that he was late on. New York’s bats go silent once againThe Yankees’ offense has scored seven runs through the first three games of the World Series. The Yankees’ inability to hit the ball over the fence like the Dodgers have so far is one of the reasons they’re down 3-0 in the World Series.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Trea Turner had the moment that could have pushed the Phillies toward the World Series waiting for him. Harper, though, lined a 2-1 fastball to center to end the scoring threat, the inning — and Philadelphia's last, best chance to return to the World Series. The Diamondbacks used a walk-off Game 3 single and a tying two-run homer late in a Game 4 win that wiped out an 0-2 NLCS hole. Castellanos struck out — one of 11 in the NLCS — and, after a walk to Brandon Marsh, Thomson let the light-hitting Rojas take his cuts. The Phillies have not won a World Series since 2008.

August 17 - On a roll since the start of July, Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Corbin Burnes will now work on his spotty history against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers extended their season-best winning streak to 10 games. Over his last eight starts, Burnes is 4-1 with a 2.66 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 50 2/3 innings. In addition to their winning streak, they have gone 14-1 in August. "It takes everybody to put something together like this (winning streak), and it's fun."

CNN —Former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar, who was convicted of sexually abusing young athletes under the guise of medical treatment, was assaulted inside a federal prison in Florida, according to two sources familiar with the incident. Joe Rojas, president of the local correction officers’ union, told CNN Nassar was stabbed a total of 10 times – twice in the neck, twice in the back, and six times in the chest. Rojas says Nassar is in stable condition. In 2021, victims of Nassar reached a $380 million settlement with USA Gymnastics, the US Olympic Committee and their insurers. The settlement was part of the USA Gymnastics plan to exit bankruptcy as the organization has struggled to recover from the Nassar scandal.

TikTok's new filter "Bold Glamour" has taken the platform by storm in recent weeks. Instead, she pulled out her phone to show me "Bold Glamour." Bold Glamour has appeared in millions of videos on TikTok because of how seamlessly it melds into certain users' faces. And on users with conventional, Eurocentric features, Bold Glamour looks like a wash of well-applied makeup. The argument that a filter like Bold Glamour can subtly distort a users' sense of reality, beauty, and very self is certainly valid.
