CNN —An Israeli airstrike killed at least 28 people and wounded dozens more sheltering at a school in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, on Thursday, the Palestine Red Crescent Society said. The attack on the Rafidah school injured at least 54 Palestinians, according to the Red Crescent. Thursday’s strike is the latest to hit a school in Gaza. Last month, an Israeli strike on a school compound near Gaza city, killed at least 22 people, mostly women and children, according to Palestinian officials. CNN —Sudanese paramilitary forces stormed the main hospital in North Darfur, opening fire and looting vital medical supplies, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) have reported. Fighters from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) plundered the facility on Saturday stealing an ambulance among other supplies, the aid agency said. “On Saturday, MSF and the Ministry of Health suspended all activities in South Hospital, El Fasher, North Darfur, after RSF soldiers stormed the facility, opened fire, and looted it, including stealing an MSF ambulance,” MSF Sudan said on social media Saturday. As a result, patients are being moved to Paediatric and Saudi hospitals “which were unprepared for such an influx,” it added. The NGO added on X, formerly known as Twitter, there were only ten patients and a reduced medical team at the hospital at the time.

But the gruesome impact Israel’s war against Hamas is having on Palestinian children still left them stunned. These gut-wrenching casualties were described to The Associated Press by Tanya Haj-Hassan, a pediatric intensive-care doctor from Jordan, following a 10-hour overnight shift at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the town of Deir al-Balah. Black representation in the boardrooms of health care organizations remains insufficient to help meet the needs of the communities they serve despite modest progress made in recent years, according to a new analysis from the nonprofit Black Directors Health Equity Agenda. Among that group, 66% of Black board members were men and 34% were Black women. The report’s release coincides with a BDHEA summit convening in the nation’s capital this week that will focus on board diversity and other key issues of health equity. A similar diversity trend was found among the country’s top health care payers, such as insurers. A limited understanding of the value of diversity and key topics such as implicit bias, health equity, and the importance of addressing the social determinants of health.

Hundreds of displaced Palestinians were fleeing a major hospital in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, according to doctors and videos from the scene, after Israeli forces ordered them to leave and threatened military action to stop what it said was Hamas activity at the hospital. Hospitals have become places of refuge during the war, even as they have often become a focus of Israel’s military offensive. King Charles III has been admitted to a London hospital for a procedure to treat an enlarged prostate, Buckingham Palace confirmed on Friday. News images showed Charles arriving around 9 a.m. at the London Clinic, a private hospital, where his daughter-in-law Catherine, Princess of Wales, is recovering from abdominal surgery. Her office in Kensington Palace said she would remain in the hospital for 10 to 14 days to recover. The king’s recovery is expected to be much swifter, though the palace did not say how long he was expected to stay in the hospital. By announcing his elective prostate procedure in advance, the palace said, Charles, 75, hoped to encourage other men with similar symptoms to get checked.
