ANNOUNCER:From NBC News in Washington, the longest-running show in television history, this is Meet the Press with Kristen Welker. In a Meet the Press interview during his 2016 run, he suggested that his insurgent bid could generate cross-party appeal. AMY WALTER:Yeah, and the other thing that, you know, Democrats have been dining off the anti-Trump coalition now since 2017. RAMESH PONNURU:I think Democrats wildly overestimated the power of the abortion issue to drive candidate choice as opposed to referendum. There would be pressure on the president, President Biden, to not run for reelection.

Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., sharply criticized other politicians on Tuesday for making public comments about what the Federal Reserve should do with its interest rate policy. McHenry, the outgoing chair of the House Financial Services Committee, said it was an '"outrage" that some politicians are publicly lobbying the central bank about rate cuts. "Senators that are trying to direct the Fed on rate policy are really demeaning their role. McHenry's comments came one day before the U.S. central bank is widely expected to start cutting interest rates for the first time since 2020. Coming in the middle of a presidential election cycle, the change in Fed policy has stirred speculation as to whether the central bank would be influenced by political considerations.

Millennials are poised to be the wealthiest generation in history, but are they ready to handle the large inflow of money? A vast $90 trillion wealth transfer over the next 20 years will likely make millennials "the richest generation in history," according to estimates from global real estate consultancy Knight Frank. "The millennials are very ill prepared … they're not as well prepared as the wealth creating generation," Salvatore Buscemi, co-founder and managing partner of multi-family office Brahmin Partners told CNBC. "They don't have the skill sets earlier on to be able to do that because they never had to - they were never pushed," he said. "And the problem is - are they going to be motivated later in life to push themselves to acquire these skill sets?"

In February, the country had 550 "million-dollar" cities, or areas where the "typical" home value is $1 million or more, according to a new analysis by Zillow. That is a gain of 59 cities from 2023, and edges out the previous record of 522 such cities when home values peaked in 2022. Some places have lost 'million-dollar city' statusCalifornia has the most million-dollar cities, with 210. Even though there are more million-dollar cities this year, the record amount is connected to how the lock-in effect is affecting an area's supply, according to Olsen. DoubleLine Capital CEO Jeffrey Gundlach believes interest rates are about to trend lower as the economy deteriorates further and tips into a recession next year. "I do think rates are going to fall as we move into a recession in the first part of next year," Gundlach said Wednesday on CNBC's "Closing Bell." The Federal Reserve's rate-setting committee unanimously agreed Wednesday to hold the key federal funds rate in a target range between 5.25% to 5.5%, where it has been since July. "One thing that the market is going to have to confront is we cannot sustain these interest rates and this deficit any longer," Gundlach said. "We can't afford this government that we're running at today's interest rate level.

"They are trying to fight a problem but there's evidence around the U.S. that says the economy is slowing. One concern voiced by CFOs is that the top end of the consumer market has been masking deeper problems in the economy, with companies tracking a rise in credit delinquencies, and that is now starting to spread. But inside major corporations, executives say they see signs of mounting trouble for the economy and as another interest rate hike looms, it may be time for the Fed to stop. While traders are betting on rate cuts before year-end, the CNBC Fed Survey shows a belief from economists and money managers that the Fed will hold rates higher for eight months.
