Robert Pattinson is re-teaming with his “Tenet” director Christopher Nolan for the filmmaker’s closely guarded project at Universal Pictures, Variety has confirmed. Pattinson joins an impressive ensemble that already includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway and Zendaya. Universal and Nolan’s follow-up to their Oscar-winning drama “Oppenheimer” is projecting a production start date sometime in the first half of 2025. Warner Bros. is looking to film a sequel to his 2022 blockbuster “The Batman,” in which the actor would reprise his leading turn as the DC Comics superhero. Universal has set a July 17, 2026 release date for the project, which will release in theaters and Imax.

CNN —A powerful “bomb cyclone” will combine with an atmospheric river to unleash over a month’s worth of rain, hurricane-force wind gusts and feet of mountain snow to parts of the Pacific Northwest and Northern California. This bomb cyclone will work with an atmospheric river, a long plume of water vapor moving like a river through the atmosphere, to wring out heavy rainfall and significant mountain snowfall in the Pacific Northwest and Northern California beginning Tuesday. The pair will stall along the coast and hammer the area with hazardous conditions through the week and into the weekend. Rainfall of this magnitude is expected to cause significant urban flooding, debris flow on roadways and river flooding. Strong winds could cause extensive damage to trees and power lines,” the National Weather Service office in Seattle warned.

CNN —Toy manufacturer Mattel has apologized after mistakenly printing the web address of a pornographic site on the packaging of its newly launched “Wicked” dolls. “Mattel was made aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked collection dolls, primarily sold in the US, which intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page,” the company said in a statement sent to CNN on Sunday. People who have already purchased the dolls are advised to discard the packaging or obscure the link, Mattel added. The highly anticipated two-part “Wicked” movie starring singer Ariana Grande and Oscar-nominated actress Cynthia Erivo is an adaptation of the famed Broadway musical. A new federal rule will prohibit schools from charging transaction fees to low-income students when their families electronically deposit funds into their lunch accounts. The report estimated that school meal payment processors collect more than $100 million in transaction fees a year. “The policy announced today will ensure fairness for all students receiving meals at a reduced price, even when paying online,” USDA said in a statement Friday. "USDA should keep working hard on this issue so that families aren’t squeezed for every nickel and dime." Prosecutors say Allen actually confessed over 60 times to the murders while in prison, to his wife, his mother, family members, the prison warden, the psychologist who treated him in prison, other prison employees and other inmates. The jury on Thursday heard recordings of seven prison phone calls Allen made to his wife and mother, according to WTHR. Monica Wala, the prison psychologist who treated Allen at Westville Correctional Facility, testified for the prosecution that he confessed to the crimes multiple times, once in great detail, according to WTHR. He also spoke about wanting to go back and change his actions and apologize to the families, Wala testified. He had a serious mental health history and had experienced both major depressive disorder and anxiety disorder, Wala testified during cross-examination.

CNN —Talented though they may be, monkeys will never type out the complete works of William Shakespeare, or even a short book, a new study suggests. The Infinite Monkey Theorem is a famous thought experiment that states that a monkey pressing random keys on a typewriter would eventually reproduce the works of the Bard if given an infinite amount of time and/or if there were an infinite number of monkeys. However, in the study published in the peer-reviewed journal Franklin Open, two mathematicians from Australia’s University of Technology Sydney have rejected this theorem as “misleading” within the confines of our finite universe. They challenged it by looking at the Finite Monkeys Theorem, in which there is a finite amount of time and a finite number of monkeys. “By the time you’re at the scale of a full book, you’re billions of billions of times less likely,” he continued.

Hong Kong CNN —Two tickets for passage on what could be the first Chinese rocket ship to take tourists to space were sold Thursday, according to a livestream held by the company, as the country’s commercial space firms aim to join a small but expanding global space tourism industry. Some 3 million people tuned in to the broadcast on Chinese shopping platform Taobao, which was the first time a Chinese firm has put tickets for space tourism up for public sale. But artist Maurizio Cattelan’s viral creation, titled “Comedian,” may yet prove a sound investment: On Friday, auction house Sotheby’s announced that one of the artwork’s three “editions” is going back on sale — this time with an estimate of $1 million to $1.5 million. “‘Comedian’ is a conceptual artwork, and the actual physical materials are replaced with every installation,” an auction spokesperson said via email. The Miami installation was eventually removed amid public safety concerns, but all three editions were sold at the fair.
