The condition is relatively rare — up to 10 out of 100,000 people in the general population may experience it — but the doctors noted three cases in one week, and each of those patients was taking semaglutide medications. The risk was found to be greatest within the first year of receiving a prescription for semaglutide. Semaglutide prescriptions have soared in the US, which could raise the number of people at risk for a potential side effect. Hundreds of Israeli hostages, including children, are believed to be held in Gaza by Hamas, their families desperate for their safe release. Birds in North America will no longer be named after people, the American Ornithological Society announced Wednesday. “There is power in a name, and some English bird names have associations with the past that continue to be exclusionary and harmful today,” the organization's president, Colleen Handel, said in a statement. “Everyone who loves and cares about birds should be able to enjoy and study them freely.”Rather than review each bird named after a person individually, all such birds will be renamed, the organization announced. But when the barbarous scale of Hamas’s October 7 attacks on Israel became clear, staying silent ceased to be an option. “Saying nothing speaks to cowardice,” said Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, a professor at the Yale School of Management who focuses on corporate leadership among other issues. All in, around 80 household-name companies in America have condemned the Hamas attacks, as tracked by Sonnenfeld who maintains a list. “Not taking a stand is taking a stand,” Susan, who served in the Israeli special forces, told CNN.

New York CNN —Tupperware Brands named consumer products veteran and former long-time CEO of Spanx Laurie Ann Goldman as its new CEO on Wednesday amid ongoing attempts to continue to survive as a business. In addition to her experience heading up Spanx for 12 years, Goldman also previously was CEO of Avon North America from August 2018 to August 2019. A three-day search in southwestern Iowa that followed a woman’s claims that her late father was a serial killer has turned up no evidence, state officials said Thursday. The excavation was at the property in Thurman, in Fremont County, where the woman claimed the bodies were buried, said Mitch Mortvedt, assistant director of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. “After exhaustive efforts, no evidence or other items of concern were recovered,” the state Department of Public Safety, of which the division is a part, said in a statement. Lucy Studey has claimed that her late father, Donald Dean Studey, was a serial killer who buried bodies around his property in Thurman, according to Newsweek, which first reported the story. The recent excavation included “an array of experts representing several disciplines and significant assets to excavate, collect and examine soil samples from a site identified by a reporting party," the public safety department said.
