Ingman, a park manager in the county, said the 32-hour workweek made his job easier by attracting a better applicant pool. His wife’s employer recently adopted its own 32-hour workweek — using San Juan County as a template. Not all county employees are formally eligible for the 32-hour workweek; right now it only applies to the roughly 155 positions represented by the union.

Steve Perkins, 39, was killed by police Sept. 29 in Decatur in a confrontation that began with a tow truck driver trying to repossess Perkins’ truck. The driver reported that Perkins flashed a gun, so officers accompanied the driver when he went back to the home, police said. The Decatur Police Department said Perkins “turned the gun toward one of the officers,” and they shot him. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said Perkins had a handgun with a light on it. In a statement, Perkins' family said his truck was not in repossession, which is why he was disputing the tow.

CNN —Kanye West’s latest controversial remarks could land him in a legal battle. Civil rights attorney Lee Merritt, who has represented the Floyd family, tweeted Sunday that they are considering legal action against West. “While one cannot defame the dead, the family of #GeorgeFloyd is considering suit for Kanye’s false statements about the manner of his death,” Merritt tweeted. “I have put together a working team to investigate [West’s] statements and to investigate the source of those statements,” Merritt said.
