You don’t test election graphics during a live program. One journalist wrote on Twitter that stations do use test results in their systems before an election. Local television stations accidentally airing test election results before the election has happened before during the 2020 elections at local stations in Michigan and Illinois (here), (here). The Associated Press confirmed that they send test data to their media customers with randomly generated results ahead of elections.

Spokespeople for Republican House Whip Scalise and Republican House Leader McCarthy also told Reuters no such graphic was released via the ‘Commitment to America’ channel.
