CNN —Elon Musk said an attack on X delayed his interview with former President Donald Trump by 42 minutes. But Musk also blamed mistakes by X’s staff for the snafu that prevented people from joining the stream. On his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump had called DeSantis’ technical difficulties on X a “disaster,” which Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign reposted during the meltdown Monday night. But when people tried to access the Trump interview at the scheduled 8 pm ET start time, they were greeted with grayed out screens and were unable to join. Eventually, the interview began, and both X and Musk claimed it was a success.

Gains from the so-called 'Magnificent 7' stocks and the S & P 500 haven't been as sweet as expected in the third quarter. After a strong outperformance to start the year, the S & P 500 is flat for the quarter, while names like Apple and Microsoft are headed for quarterly losses. But there's still a way to play the group, comprised of Nvidia , Meta Platforms , Amazon , Microsoft, Apple, Alphabet and Tesla , according to Trivariate Research's Adam Parker. Parker expects the Big 7 stocks to continue faring well even if recent inflationary concerns endure, noting that the group is seen as including the prime beneficiaries of the widespread application of artificial intelligence and has seen better earnings revisions than other areas of the market. — CNBC's Michael Bloom contributed reporting

While mandatory reporting on nature may still be a long way off, for some companies, measuring their impact on nature makes good business sense. “Not enough companies are actually measuring their corporate biodiversity impact,” said Steve Kennedy, associate professor in business sustainability at the Rotterdam School of Management. Biodiversity impact, on the other hand, remains a more nebulous concept, with widespread uncertainty about what to measure and how to measure it. While biodiversity impact remains difficult to assess, more complete data can help, said Zoe Balmforth, co-founder of biodiversity-data startup Pivotal. And companies will soon have a final framework on which to base their voluntary biodiversity reporting.

Opinion | Are the Warnings About A.I. Overblown?

To the Editor:Re “A.I. Poses ‘Risk of Extinction,’ Tech Leaders Warn” (front page, May 31):I read with great interest your article about the potential existential threat of artificial intelligence. Clearly, much anxiety exists concerning the recent, and rapid, developments in so-called large language models, such as that used in ChatGPT. However, we at the Silicon Valley Laboratory have an unpopular belief that artificial intelligence is fast approaching a limit on how well it can perform higher-order cognitive functions such as creativity. We believe that A.I.

Some of us would like to slow this down because we are seeing more costs every day, but I don’t think that means that there are no benefits. We may someday have a technology that revolutionizes science and technology, but I don’t think GPT-5 is the ticket for that. Combine that human overattribution with the reality that these systems don’t know what they’re talking about and are error-prone, and you have a problem. I don’t think we should go after an individual who posts a silly story on Facebook that wasn’t true. I don’t think, however, that the technology we have right now is very good for that — systems that can’t even reliably do math problems.
New York CNN —Electric carmaker Tesla will face a hit on Super Bowl Sunday, when an ad will play showing the alleged dangers of its Full Self-Driving technology. The ad is part of a multimillion dollar advertising campaign by The Dawn Project. The ad cost $598,000, a Dawn Project spokesperson told CNN. “Tesla’s Full Self-Driving is endangering the public,” the ad said. “Tesla’s reckless deployment of Full Self-Driving software on public roads is a major threat to public safety.
Grocery chains looking to deploy new technologies are running into internet bandwidth limitations because of aging hardware and remote locations. “The more you put in the store, the more bandwidth it requires,” said Mr. Kosla. Further investment, however, might be required if the company decides to tap more cutting-edge, bandwidth-heavy tech in the future, Mr. Kosla said. There are a couple reasons grocery stores might struggle with bandwidth, one of the biggest being their locations. In other instances, Mr. Watkins said he might work with technology providers to find ways for processing data with less bandwidth.
Despite the recent rally, few believe the downturn in tech has bottomed — but Morgan Stanley believes investors should not sit on the sidelines. Stay invested even if a recession strikes Morgan Stanley believes investors should continue to selectively own Asia tech names even if a widely anticipated recession materializes, given the sector's historical resilience. Stock picks Morgan Stanley recommends investing in commodity and consumer cyclical companies "that will likely be first to come out of the downturn." Morgan Stanley also likes Samsung Electronics on the back of its market share gains, dividend support and potential for growth through M & A. Morgan Stanley has a price target of 700 Taiwan dollars ($23.10) on TSMC, which implies an upside of around 40%.
