CNN —Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley is finally unleashing on her opponent, former President Donald Trump. Although she spent much of her time during the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary focused on Florida Gov. The poll ahead of the February 24 South Carolina primary shows Trump holds a sizeable 26-point lead over Haley in the state. Haley’s best bet is that by ramping up the intensity of her attacks, she can remain in the political game. Voters in primary states who hate Trump and like her will give her enough of a vote to remain relevant.

The former South Carolina governor is pushing back hard against Trump’s bid to end the GOP primary race after only two nominating contests. She’s calling on voters to make a generational shift and is appealing especially to independents who can join the GOP primary in New Hampshire. According to a CNN poll conducted by the University of New Hampshire before DeSantis dropped out, Haley trailed Trump by 13 points in a two-person race. Nikki Haley began campaigning early this morning, bouncing from town to town across New Hampshire. The emerging reality is one where Trump is increasingly likely to face off against President Biden in November. Yet for many Americans in both parties, a Trump-Biden rematch is still hard to fathom. The governor answered reporter questions during an impromptu gaggle before the No Labels event. “They are going to try,” he said of No Labels. The organization held its campaign-style event Monday in the Granite State, which has been the host of the first-in-the-nation primary since 1920. They know this is where the conversation is gonna be and they want to be part of this,” Sununu said.
