JB Pritzker also praised Walz' Midwestern roots and called the fellow governor a "friend" in his statement, which he posted alongside a photo of the two men. Sen. JD Vance, the running mate of former President Donald Trump, on Friday defended his comments accusing key Democrats — including Vice President Kamala Harris — of being miserable "childless cat ladies" who want to "make the rest of the country miserable too," as well as anti-family and anti-kids. Vance has been under fire for days after the "cat ladies" remark resurfaced online following the Ohio Republican's nomination as the party's vice presidential candidate. I explicitly said in my remarks," Vance said. At the time Vance made his remarks Buttigieg was in the process of adopting twin babies with his partner. A month after his comment in 2021, Vance appeared on Tucker Carlson's now defunct-show on Fox News — Kelly's former employer — and expanded on it.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Kelly Oubre Jr. wanted to set the record straight — yes, a vehicle struck him as he walked near his home and the driver fled. Yes, he suffered a traumatic injury and no — he doesn't care for anyone who questioned his account of what happened on that Philadelphia street last month. “This was and is a very traumatic situation for me and my family,” Oubre told reporters Monday at the 76ers' complex in New Jersey. The car, described as silver in color, fled, Oubre told authorities. Oubre said he's “ready to hoop” and rejoin the 76ers (12-7) as they chase a top spot in the Eastern Conference.

A Spree of Country Music Divorce Albums

In February, Kelsea Ballerini released a surprise EP, “Rolling Up the Welcome Mat,” a set of songs inspired by her recent divorce from another country singer, Morgan Evans. It was her freshest recent work, thematically and musically, and also a reminder that for the past few years, several female country singers have found freedom in divorce-inspired music. In 2021, Carly Pearce put out “29,” an EP, and later “29: Written in Stone,” a full-length project, inspired by her divorce from the singer Michael Ray. That same year, Kacey Musgraves released “Star-Crossed,” which followed her split from the singer Ruston Kelly. (Men have traveled this path as well — Kelly has just released an album of his own, and in 2016, both Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert reacted to their divorce with new albums.)

Rakoczy then pressed him, asking if he'd tapped into Oath Keepers funds "quite a bit" to cover personal expenses. Rhodes, who remained outside the Capitol, testified that he thought it was "stupid" for Oath Keepers members to enter the building. From the Oath Keepers' founding, the group was focused on "forceful opposition to the government, isn't that right?" In her questioning, she also noted that the Oath Keepers provided ammunition for AR-15 rifles during the 2014 standoff at the Bundy Ranch. For Rakoczy, Rhodes' preferred image of the Oath Keepers was belied by his own messages with fellow members.
Alpers testified that he was not working on behalf of a federal law enforcement agency when he made the recording. Alpers testified on the stand that he had connections to Trump's inner circle and said he could get a message to Trump "indirectly." When he met with Rhodes on Jan. 10, he had Rhodes type a message intended for Trump on his phone. Oath Keepers members Joshua James, Brian Ulrich and William Todd Wilson all pleaded guilty to seditious conspiracy. Several other Oath Keepers have pleaded guilty to other charges, including two Oath Keepers — Jason Dolan and Graydon Young — who testified in the trial.
A government witness recorded a meeting with Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes after January 6. Jason Alpers said Rhodes typed a message for Trump warning his children would "die in prison." In that draft message, Rhodes sought to tell Trump that he "must do as Lincoln did." Federal prosecutors are expected to rest their case against Rhodes and the four other Oath Keepers members on Wednesday. At the outset of the trial, Rhodes' lawyer told jurors that the Oath Keepers founder planned to testify in his own defense.
