LAS VEGAS — GOP candidate Sam Brown spent Thursday’s Nevada Senate debate taking shots at Democratic Sen. Jacky Rosen, as he still faces a polling deficit with Election Day creeping nearer. In contrast, Rosen spent the evening focusing largely on her own track record and roots in Nevada, hoping to stay above the fray and ride her polling lead. “It’s interesting that Senator Rosen would mention a desire to want to fine greedy corporations,” said Brown. And when moderators asked Rosen and Brown if Congress should do an independent investigation into UFOs, Rosen answered the question. Fearing that such rights could be undone in the future, reproductive rights advocates garnered enough signatures this summer to put on the ballot a measure to enshrine abortion rights into their state’s constitution.

It could also have a major impact on House and Senate races. We talked by email about the state of play for the House and Senate and how the shake-up in the presidential race might change things. PATHE: House races are typically more nationalized than Senate races because the candidates are lesser known; therefore, it’s harder for them to separate themselves from their party and the top of the ticket. WOLF: The presidential primary process is over, but we’re still in the thick of statewide primaries for House and Senate races. WOLF: If there’s one Senate race that could be a bellwether for the country as a whole, which one is it and why?

Here are four big questions facing Menendez, his lawyers and federal prosecutors as the trial intensifies. How hard does the defense lean on Nadine Menendez? The other half of their telling, in short, is that Nadine Menendez was the one pulling the strings — and hiding it from her husband. Republicans have been surprisingly absent from the hoopla around the Menendez trial. This dynamic could change later this week or next when Trump’s trial is expected to reach its denouement.

NEW YORK (AP) — GOP front-runner Donald Trump marked President Joe Biden 's 81st birthday on Monday by releasing a letter from his physician that reports the former president is in “excellent” physical and mental health. Dr. Bruce A. Aronwald, a New Jersey physician who says he has been Trump’s doctor since 2021 and most recently examined him in September, reported that Trump's “physical exams were well within the normal range and his cognitive exams were exceptional." The report comes as age has emerged as a key issue of the 2024 election, which could find Trump and Biden, the country's oldest president, facing off once again. It takes the truth and moves it in a different direction.”While in the White House, Trump's doctors offered a more complete picture of his health following annual physicals that included numbers and test results. Trump continues to brag about the results to this day.

If the conflict in Israel drags on for weeks, Democrats in Congress may eventually split over it. It would showcase a divide that echoes — but doesn't exactly mirror — GOP discord over Ukraine. It's a divide that might echo — though not exactly mirror — Republicans' divisions over Ukraine. When the invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022, lawmakers were relatively united in levying harsh sanctions against Russia and approving billions in aid to Ukraine. That arguments has in turn driven opposition to Ukraine aid among GOP voters; 71% of Republicans said that the US should not authorize any new funding for Ukraine in an August poll from CNN.

When told of the historic vote, Pence waited several seconds before he responded. Pence said that he expected additional votes to take place this week and predicted that McCarthy would eventually be reelected to the post. Political Cartoons View All 1196 ImagesBut he said what took place underscored the need for new leadership in Washington. Pence faces an uphill fight for the nomination in a party that remains closely aligned with his old boss, former President Donald Trump. Pence had said earlier in the conversation that he believed the disorder that preceded the vote was “just one more reason why the American people want to see new leadership” in the White House.

As speaker, McCarthy has the authority to choose a chairman and Republican members of the panel. Jeffries, as minority leader, can nominate Democrats to serve on the panel, but McCarthy has the power to reject them. He has specifically targeted Schiff and Swalwell who played a major role in the impeachments of former President Donald Trump. Those actions angered McCarthy and for months he has vowed to block Schiff and Swalwell from the Intelligence panel. As recently as Jan. 12, McCarthy told reporters he would not seat Schiff and Swalwell who regularly antagonize McCarthy during cable news appearances.
GOP Rep. Virginia Foxx received a waiver to run for chair of the House education committee. She has been highly critical of Biden's student-debt relief and plans to bolster oversight over the reforms. "If I am selected to Chair the Committee, I will make oversight a priority and put the federal government in its place. Since Biden took office, Foxx has been highly critical of the higher education policies and reforms he has enacted, specifically related to student debt. Biden's administration is continuing to fight for it's student-debt relief plan, with the matter now sitting at the Supreme Court.
Trump has long blasted the governor for not helping him overturn Biden's 2020 win in Georgia. Kemp became a national figure after his first gubernatorial contest against Abrams in 2018 and once again after he refused to entertain then-President Donald Trump's entreaties to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. In Morjera's view, the governor has already earned another four years in office, but when it came to the 2024 presidential campaign, he was all in for a third Trump presidential campaign. "President Trump is still my top pick for the next presidential election," Morjera told Insider. After Kemp spoke at the rally, Donna Wexon told Insider that she liked his anti-abortion stance and believed his policies were "good for the economy."
Durham County Commissioner Nida Allam competed in this year's Democratic primary for North Carolina's 4th Congressional District. And we need to have an infrastructure like that on the Democratic Party side. Former House candidate John Isemann faced ex-state lawmaker Tom Kean Jr. in the Republican primary for New Jersey's 7th Congressional District. Jay Nixon and also worked for the Missouri Democratic Party — decided to jump into the race himself. "We talk about the Democratic Party being a big-tent party," she said.
