Here’s what to know about the differences between the “Wicked” film and musical. Trying to fit all of the “Wicked” musical into one film would have been a “burden,” Schwartz says. “There are things that go past in lightning speed, like the two sisters,” Holzman says of the “Wicked” musical. In the musical, Elphaba arrives at Shiz as an enrolled student under strict orders to look after her sister. More details on the GrimmerieWhile most of the songs of the “Wicked” movie soundtrack are the same as the musical, “One Short Day” has a notable addition.

Abortion rights groups are bracing for an especially tough fight in conservative Missouri, where they see one of the most restrictive bans in the country in place. But abortion rights groups in the heavily Republican state said they’re prepared to respond to any. Abortion rights groups also aren’t expecting much of a battle in Colorado, Maryland, Nevada or New York — the remaining four states where voters passed measures enshrining abortion rights in state constitutions earlier this month. “Ballot measures don’t end on Election Day. (The ballot measure that would have enshrined abortion rights in Florida’s constitution failed, even though it received the support of 57% of voters.)

Under the Rome statute that created the ICC, its signatories are obliged to carry out arrest warrants, no matter the rank of the accused. Mohammed Deif was accused of crimes against humanity and war crimes, including for his role as a mastermind of Oct. 7. Some European countries have not said whether they would arrest Netanyahu if he visited, including a number of Israeli allies. Britain respects the independence of the ICC, Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s spokesperson said, but did not say whether Britain would arrest Netanyahu. Netanyahu and the other two Israelis facing the arrest warrants join a group that includes Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has been subject to an ICC arrest warrant over alleged war crimes in Ukraine since last year.

Now, however, a growing number of gallerists and curators are, like Biljani, taking the opposite approach, exhibiting in the very places where daily life dominates: their own homes. In Manhattan’s Financial District, the dealer Michael Bargo, 41, sells rare furniture out of his one-bedroom apartment. In Los Angeles’s Frogtown, the collector Jonathan Pessin, 54, has converted his residence into a veritable bazaar of vintage design objects. And on New York’s Lower East Side, the pro skater turned artist and gallerist Tony Cox, 49, runs Club Rhubarb — a tiny, deliberately hard-to-find contemporary art gallery — out of his sixth-floor abode. But now, whether driven by skyrocketing rents, a collective urge to experiment or a longing to encourage active participation with the art, the concept is taking hold.

The latestElon Musk is getting a crash course in the world of President-elect Donald Trump. Trump worked to fill out his cabinet, after picking Florida’s Pam Bondi to replace Matt Gaetz as his nominee for attorney general. The Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer is staying strategically silent over Trump’s cabinet picks. “Why get in the middle of a food fight?” one Democrat said. When gravity exerted its pull on that now-former congressman, Matt Gaetz, he reached for a tried-and-true excuse that has softened the landing of many nominees who failed before him, albeit for less shocking reasons.

It may be a coincidence that the celebrity look-alike competition returned to prominence just as American citizens were voting in what some called “the most significant presidential election in our lifetimes.” But once it happened, the appeal was obvious. Here was a different kind of democratic event: a totally insignificant one, in which attractive men with slightly off-kilter features were lined up in public and ranked by the roaring crowd. At the first contest, which convened a flock of Timothée Chalamet doubles in Manhattan last month, the New York Police Department showed up, deemed it an “unscheduled demonstration” and arrested four people. They are typically publicized with posters on lampposts, staged in public parks and accompanied by meager prizes. The Mescal double won 20 euro “or three pints”; the White winner received $50 and a pack of Marlboro Reds.

President Trump is for you” — Democrats are now debating how much the issue of trans rights hurt them and how fast they should retreat from it. The party’s decision to focus on the issues that matter to most voters, especially reproductive rights, and set trans rights aside is based on a misconception. The two issues can’t be separated, because trans rights don’t just resemble reproductive rights; trans rights are reproductive rights. But opponents of trans rights argue that there is an area in which the consequences can be nothing short of catastrophic, and that area is reproduction. Both of them have repeatedly expressed fear that the treatment they received as teenagers could have rendered them infertile.

London CNN —The coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla held in May last year cost British taxpayers £72 million ($91 million), an amount some have labeled excessive. The £72 million spent on the coronation could have paid for 24 million free meals for schoolchildren in London, based on the city government’s current budget of £3.00 ($3.75) per meal. Some additional spending came from the Privy Purse, the monarch’s private source of income, a royal source told CNN. “Plans (for the coronation) were scaled back,” the royal source told CNN. The culture department, in its accounts, said it had underspent its budget on the coronation by £2.8 million ($3.5 million).

The International Criminal Court’s arrest warrants for two Israeli leaders say that there are grounds to believe they bear “criminal responsibility” for the devastating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, according to a statement released by the court on Thursday. Most of Gaza’s over two million people are still displaced — many living in tents — and finding enough food and clean water is often a daily struggle. Israeli officials, who ordered the invasion of Gaza after the Hamas-led Oct. 7 attacks, say their aim is to eradicate the armed group. The court said some Gazans had died from deprivation in part imposed by Israeli restrictions on the flow of aid, providing legal grounds for suspected murder. The judges also argued that restrictions on food and medicine to Gazans as a whole could amount to the crime of persecution under international law.

As of 2021, a record 52% of American women were either unmarried or separated, according to a report by Wells Fargo Economics. Big retailers’ fortunes are diverging as the holiday shopping season gets underway. On Wednesday, Target cited “lingering softness in discretionary categories” as a top factor in its disappointing third-quarter sales, as many budget-conscious shoppers continue to focus on necessities. Kyiv, Ukraine CNN —It is a very specific and high-profile warning, so you would expect the information behind it to have been quite precise. The US Embassy in Kyiv has not closed since it relocated during the opening months of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022. But on Wednesday, it announced a one-day closure, citing “specific information of a potential significant air attack.” Kyiv endures air attacks on an almost nightly basis – but the US step suggested a fear of being potentially targeted. Ukrainian defense officials even derided a fake warning circulated widely on Telegram claiming a massive Russian air attack, as being crude Russian-produced misinformation. Residents in Kyiv struggled to reconcile the specific nature of the US warnings, with the quotidian daily threat they face.
