After a 17.8% fall in August, industrial profits declined 27.1% in September from a year ago, marking the steepest plunge since March 2020, when it dropped by 34.9%, according to data kept by Wind Information. In the first nine months, industrial profits fell by 3.5% from a year ago. NBS statistician Yu Weining said "insufficient demand and a sharp decline in producer prices" weighed down the profitability of industrial firms. Before the week-long holiday, authorities unveiled a flurry of stimulus policies, including interest rate cuts, lower cash reserve requirements at banks, looser property purchase rules and liquidity support for stock markets. Chinese major indexes have surged over 25% as investors cheer on the barrage of stimulus measures. Last week, China's CSI 300 blue-chip index extended a nine-day winning streak, surging over 8% Monday, before the market closed for a week-long holiday. Now the government needs to add fiscal stimulus to maintain the rally's momentum, said Shaun Rein, founder and managing director of China Market Research Group.

Goldman's forecast implies roughly 37% upside ahead for Dell stock from its $113.16 close on Tuesday. Dell stock has surged more than 51% in 2024. In particular, Ng pointed to Dell's $3.8 billion AI server backlog in the second-quarter as a prime example of robust demand. "Enterprise and sovereign AI opportunities are in earlier stages of adoption, and the company continues to optimize its organization to address AI demand across customer verticals and regions," Ng said. "AI server margins should improve over time through a greater mix of higher margin services revenue and a diversification to a larger number of AI server customers."

The Guangzhou city government said in a notice on Sunday that all restrictions on home purchases would be removed, effective from Monday. China Overseas Land & Investment and China Vanke climbed 5.06% and 12.89%. Mainland China's CSI 300 surged 6% Monday, after the index logged its best week in almost 16 years on Friday. The easing measures follow the central government's call last week to combat the property slump last week.
