CNN —An early analysis of a sample collected from the asteroid Bennu suggests that the space rock had an unexpectedly water-rich past — and it may have even splintered off from an ancient ocean world. But the compound from the Bennu sample is purer and has larger grains. Rocks and dust were collected from asteroid Bennu and returned to Earth by the OSIRIS-REx mission. Erika Blumenfeld/Joseph Aebersold/NASA“The sample we returned is the largest reservoir of unaltered asteroid material on Earth right now,” Lauretta said. “Each week, analysis by the OSIRIS-REx Sample Analysis Team provides new and sometimes surprising findings that are helping place important constraints on the origin and evolution of Earth-like planets.”

An aide to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview with Britain's Sunday Times that Israel had agreed to the framework for President Joe Biden's plan to bring an end to the war in Gaza, though he said it was "not a good deal." He added that Israel's conditions "have not changed" — the release of the hostages and the destruction of Hamas. "Indefinite war in pursuit of an unidentified notion of total victory will only bog down Israel in Gaza," Biden said. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken made calls to Arab leaders on Saturday affirming their commitment to the cease-fire. Tens of thousands of Israelis gathered in Tel Aviv on Saturday night to urge the government to accept a cease-fire.

889, 891 (1992) (citing State v. Rizzo, 69 N.J. 28, 30 (1975) to disqualify criminal defense counsel). Unlike an actual conflict, the finding of an appearance of impropriety does not automatically demand disqualification. As discussed above, this generally has been found insufficient to outweigh the client's interest in counsel of choice. Blumenfeld v. Borenstein, 247 Ga. 406, 409-10 (1981); Stinson v. State, 210 Ga. App. The Supreme Court further noted that disqualification due to an appearance of impropriety should rarely occur where there is no danger that the actual trial of the case will be tainted.

“This thing is not appropriate in the community we live in,” said Aya Sbeih, a Palestinian member of the group that was meeting in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, Combatants for Peace. “So I keep it a secret.”Many peace groups have been struggling since Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack and Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, which have hardened the positions of many Israelis and Palestinians. But some activists, including those in Combatants for Peace, have quietly started to resume their work. Ms. Sbeih, a member of the group for seven years, said she had come to several recent meetings with newfound doubts about peace activism, at least in the current climate. Some said they were fed up with despair and wanted to latch onto a glimmer of hope.

[1/4] People look up at the damage caused when a rocket, fired from Gaza towards Israel, at a Holocaust museum at a Kibbutz near Israel's border with the Gaza Strip in southern Israel, October 24, 2023. Blumenfeld, 89, is one of tens of thousands of elderly survivors of the Nazi Holocaust who live in Israel and are once again facing up to the reality of war, with more than 220 Israelis taken hostage in Gaza. "I went through the Holocaust and all the wars, but it is not like before, the noise is deafening. According to the latest study published in April by the government's Holocaust Survivors' Rights Authority, there were 147,199 survivors in Israel, with an average age of 85, including 462 who were over 100. "To say that it's worse than the Nazis, I think that's the worst trigger for a Holocaust survivor."

delivery kits include instructions on reducing the risk of infection for pregnant women who may have to deliver their own babies in a crisis. And as their deliveries approach, many of the pregnant women “don’t know where they’re going to be in the next minute or the next day,” Mr. Allen said. The group said in a statement that women in Gaza have been losing their pregnancies from the stress and shock of the war. Itimad Abu Ward, a midwife and nurse who works as a public health officer for the W.H.O., was among those forced to flee northern Gaza. She said trying to care for pregnant women during the chaotic journey south was near impossible.

AdvertisementAdvertisementMiddle East analysts have disputed charges that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "propped up" Palestinian militant group Hamas. CNN —A pristine asteroid sample that could serve as a time capsule from the early days of our solar system has finally been revealed. “Far exceeding our goal of 60 grams, this is the biggest carbon-rich asteroid sample ever return to Earth. It’s the largest asteroid sample returned to Earth. The burst of gas lifted rocks and dust all the way from 19 inches (50 centimeters) beneath the space rock’s surface. About 70% of the sample will remain pristine in storage so future generations with better technology can learn even more than what’s now possible.

The city of Sderot, a mile from Gaza, was hit on Saturday by a brutal terrorist attack by Palestinian gunmen. An analysis of available footage shows an estimated 20 civilians were killed across multiple locations, though the toll could climb. Officials said that about a dozen soldiers, firefighters and police had also been killed. The footage shows the indiscriminate ways gunmen killed civilians and how Israeli police and military responded. Two more were killed in a van and a car around the corner and 100 yards from there.

Military promotions, including for the chief of naval operations, have been held up by a single senator because of abortion policy. "It could make our response significantly less effective" and imperil aid to both Israel and Ukraine. That followed the sending of a U.S. aircraft carrier strike group and military aircraft closer to Israel as a show of support. The United States is also supplying Israel with munitions and other military supplies, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said. "This kind of situation is what many were worrying about, with all the holds on nominations and military promotions.
