Tesla's falling California sales point to bigger problems for the car company. AdvertisementTesla is losing some ground in its home state of California, signaling more trouble ahead for the world's largest electric car company. As electric car sales rose 2% in California, Tesla's sales in the state fell 3.5%, according to third-quarter figures from the California New Car Dealers Association. The losses don't upset Tesla's market dominance: the Elon Musk-led company still accounted for more than half of all EV sales in California for the quarter. "Tesla's sales are actually doing great," he said during a recent X space.

CNN —President Joe Biden delivered a series of stark warnings about what a second Donald Trump term could hold during a star-studded Los Angeles fundraiser Saturday evening, framing the 2024 presidential election as an inflection point in American history. “What (Trump) did on January 6, and now he’s literally saying if he doesn’t win there’ll be a bloodbath — it’s outrageous. The conversation between Biden and Obama was moderated by television host Jimmy Kimmel. And rallies the world to fight for democracy and freedom.”She also made the case for the dangers of a second Trump term, saying, “Trump has told us again and again why he wants the White House. Biden interjected, “He paid none.”When Kimmel asked Biden about “Trump amnesia,” Biden said: “All you got to do is remember what it was like” during Trump’s four years, pointing to Trump’s recommendation that people inject bleach to cure Covid-19.

U.S. President Joe Biden and former U.S. President Barack Obama share a laugh during a star-studded campaign fundraiser at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, on June 15, 2024. The fundraiser included singing by Jack Black and Sheryl Lee Ralph, and actors Kathryn Hahn and Jason Bateman introduced Kimmel, who himself introduced Biden and Obama. The president was fundraising "with out-of-touch elitist Hollywood celebrities," Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said. But Biden told the crowd in California that "we passed every major piece of legislation we attempted to get done." CNN —This piece contains mild spoilers for the Netflix series “Ripley” and a scene in the movie “Civil War.”Are we finally ready to take another look at why we love to hate sociopaths so much? But his rendition of Ripley – highly capable, chameleonic, but never what you’d call charming — represents a refreshing take on one of the most famous sociopaths in literature and film. Gagne feels Hollywood’s nearly always gotten it wrong with portrayals of sociopaths, reducing them to a collection of cartoonish, villainous traits. In fact, I found one of film’s most recent sociopaths to be singularly chilling because of his very plausibility. He’s in Alex Garland’s “Civil War,” the polarizing film about a vaguely-sketched conflict set in the modern-day United States.

The lack of available care for sociopaths inspired Gagne to pursue a PhD in psychology, where she specialized in the relationship between sociopathy and anxiety. Sociopaths do feel emotions, just not "social" onesSociopaths are often depicted in media as devoid of feelings entirely. As an adult researching sociopathy and going to therapy, she learned that sociopaths — and even psychopaths — can feel basic emotions. Related storiesWhile research on the diagnoses is still limited, Gagne says experts believe that, unlike psychopaths, sociopaths can feel anxiety and also show signs of learning right from wrong. They don't understand why some things are "wrong"Throughout the book, Gagne explains how she finds it difficult to identify "bad" behavior.

SUZU, Japan (Reuters) - One month on from a magnitude 7.6 earthquake that struck the west coast of Japan, volunteers from non-profit organisation Katariba play cards and other games with children in a Suzu city school classroom. Some of kids are still living in evacation centres, where it is difficult to play. Others have parents who are busy trying to deal with the task of rebuilding homes and livelihoods since the quake, so it's important to provide children with a safe place, says Katariba member Yoshiki Itashiki. After her daughter was temporarily evacuated to a different city, the service made it easier for her to come back. More than 13,600 people in Ishikawa prefecture where Suzu city is located are still living in evacuation centres.

More than 13,000 residents are living in evacuation centres, according to the Ishikawa government. Bitter cold is also posing a challenge, especially for scores of residents who are sleeping in their cars after their homes were wrecked.
