CNN —Former President Donald Trump is expected to surrender himself to the Fulton County jail at the end of next week – on Thursday or Friday, a senior law enforcement official with knowledge of the surrender told CNN. After the 41-count indictment was unsealed, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis set an August 25 deadline for their surrender. Trump’s expected surrender in Georgia comes the same week as the first Republican presidential debate of the 2024 election cycle. De Oliveira, 56, told another worker at the resort where Trump lives that "the boss" wanted security videos of the property in Florida deleted after the Justice Department subpoenaed them. Trump pleaded not guilty in Miami last month to federal charges of unlawfully retaining the classified government documents after leaving office in 2021 and obstructing justice. Prosecutors filed additional charges against another Trump aide, Walt Nauta. Nauta pleaded not guilty earlier this month to charges he helped the former president hide documents. According to the new indictment, Nauta and De Oliveira moved 64 boxes of records to Trump's residence after the Justice Department subpoenaed Trump for any classified records in May 2022.

After the 2020 election, Rudy Giuliani baselessly claimed two Georgia election workers manipulated ballots. One of the workers, Ruby Freeman, said she lost her "name" and "reputation" as a result. On Wednesday, Giuliani said in a filing he's not contesting the fact his statements were false. The filing says Giuliani is only conceding to making false statements for the purposes of litigation strategy so that he can save some money.
