A new study warns that Amazon deals might be price hikes in disguise. When you consider vacuum cleaners, for example, the addition of a list price was accompanied by a price hike 22% of the time. One day, a "List Price" of $300 pops up on the page with a slash through it. List prices are based on amounts Amazon customers recently paid and other retailers recently charged, Amazon said. Still, the study's authors warned that consumers shouldn't always take Amazon deals at face value.

Before Hurricane Ian caused billions of dollars in damage in Florida, Alaura Miller considered herself a part of the lower middle class. Miller, 60, a retired barber, is among Floridians on low or fixed incomes struggling to find affordable housing in one of the nation's most popular and expensive states to live. "Florida came into this hurricane season already having a shortage of affordable housing, particularly for people who are working in service jobs and other lower wage jobs," said Anne Ray, a researcher at the University of Florida's Shimberg Center for Housing Studies. "And so, people who have lost their homes are going to be competing with the people who are already trying to find affordable housing. She added: "I've never been put in a position before where I've had to worry about where I'm going to live or where I'm going to go."

According to experts, the footage shows Yacare Caiman in the interior Pantanal region of Brazil, clustering near a river due to seasonal drought.
