The letter, which called for universities to “investigate” individual chapters of SJP, provided no evidence to indicate that SJP had provided material or financial support for Hamas. In a response, SJP directed CNN to a letter Palestine Legal sent to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Wednesday. Citing similar opposition to DeSantis’ call for state universities to “deactivate” SJP chapters because of their “material support for terrorism,” the national SJP chapter disputed the organization and its local chapters support terror groups. “Independent protests and organizing in support of Palestinian rights do not constitute ‘material support for terrorism,’” the pro-Palestine legal defense group said in its letter to DeSantis. The ADL’s letter called on campuses to update their codes of conduct to forbid students from supporting terrorism.

New York CNN —A mobile billboard truck drove outside the entrance of Columbia University on Wednesday displaying the names and faces of students that a conservative nonprofit responsible for the truck says were linked to a statement blaming Israel for the Hamas terror attack. Photos viewed by CNN showed Columbia students following the truck and blocking it with balloons and posters. The truck was sent by the same group that sent a billboard truck earlier this month near Harvard displaying the names and faces of Harvard students linked to an anti-Israel letter. The group said the students whose names and faces were displayed on the Columbia truck were linked to a statement published earlier this month by Palestinian solidarity groups. Multiple Columbia students told CNN on Wednesday they were alarmed by the “doxxing truck.”“I was at once heartbroken and infuriated.

Amazon Web Services European Sovereign Cloud will be located within Europe and will be separate to the U.S. technology giant's other cloud operations. As government agencies and critical businesses increasingly move their operations to public cloud operators, like Amazon or Microsoft , there is growing concern in the EU that data is being stored on the servers of non-European firms. Some cloud features may require data to be transferred to and from the EU. And there is a growing worry among businesses and lawmakers that this data could be accessed by entities outside of the EU. Amazon's sovereign cloud is likely an attempt to allay some of those fears.

Two experts in 5G technology and cybersecurity, Rahim Tafazolli and Alan Woodward of the University of Surrey, spoke to Insider about the key steps organizations should take to develop a secure 5G network. Understand your needs and hire the right staffThe first thing to check is whether you need a 5G network, and if so, how you should scope it. Evaluate public versus private 5G optionsIf you don't have the full complement of telecom skills required, it's much safer to rely on those who do to provide you with a secure 5G network. A public 5G network slice from a mobile operator may, in that instance, be better than a private, on-premise 5G network that you have to maintain in-house. Implement monitoring and automationOperating a 5G network requires extensive telecom expertise that many enterprises lack.

Just like the cloud transformed every software category, we think AI is one such transformational shift. Therefore, this notion of Copilots that we're introducing is really going to be revolutionary in terms of driving productivity and communication. Milton Friedman once famously said: "the business of business is business." One is, is the business of business just business? So, I think AI can actually be very helpful in many ways to be a little more empathetic and more understanding of the world.

But CNN’s analysis suggests that a rocket launched from within Gaza broke up midair, and that the blast at the hospital was the result of part of the rocket landing at the hospital complex. All agreed that the available evidence of the damage at the site was not consistent with an Israeli airstrike. In the past few days, a number of outlets have published investigations into the Al-Ahli Hospital blast. CNN geolocated the hospital blast by referencing nearby buildings just west of the complex. Marc Garlasco, the former defense intelligence analyst and UN war crimes investigator, says there are signs of a lack of evidence at the Al-Ahli Hospital site.

As demand has slowed in countries such as the United States, Nokia and rival Ericsson (ERICb.ST) have tried to offset some of the weakness with higher sales to India, a low-margin market. Nokia is targeting savings of between 800 million euros ($842 million) and 1.2 billion euros by 2026, its deadline to deliver a long-term comparable operating margin plan of at least 14%. Nokia expects at least 400 million euros of savings in 2024, and a further 300 million euros in 2025. Quarterly comparable net sales fell to 4.98 billion euros from 6.24 billion last year, missing an estimate of 5.67 billion euros according to a LSEG poll. "There are signs here and there that demand would start to pick up again but it's too early to call it a broad-based trend," Lundmark said.

HELSINKI (AP) — Telecom gear maker Nokia said Thursday that it is planning to cut up to 14,000 jobs worldwide, or 16% of its workforce, as part of a push to reduce costs following a plunge in third-quarter sales and profit. The company said it is aiming to slash 800 million euros ($843 billion) to 1.2 billion euros in costs by the end of 2026. That is expected to lead to a reduction from 86,000 employees to between 72,000 and 77,000 over that time period. Nokia’s third-quarter sales plummeted 20%, to 4.98 billion euros from 6.24 billion in the same three-month period last year. The company’s biggest unit by revenue — the mobile networks business — declined 24% to 2.16 billion euros, driven mainly by weakness in the North American market.

But Microsoft’s gaming revenue was still around 8% of group sales, or $15 billion, for the year ended June 2022.
