"In a market with so few sellers and so many buyers, those buyers need to pay up if they want to get their hands on some shares," he said. "But they're willing to pay up because they're so worried that tomorrow a lot of them will have to pay even more than they did today." Wednesday's momentum largely continued during Thursday's session, as investors deemed a decisive Trump victory to broadly bode well for Wall Street and big business. Cramer used Home Depot 's stock moves to illustrate what he called "a dearth of sellers," explaining how shares were able to advance 2.85% by the close. The sellers are afraid to sell, the buyers are incredibly eager to buy," Cramer said.

Now I only throw a party for the first year, and then plan special family outings for other years. In fact, my kids don't remember most of their birthday parties. In fact, she had almost no recollection of her birthday parties at all. Even if they don't remember the details, it's a special day we can all reflect on together. In the years that followed, we adopted a different approach that no longer involves the massive undertaking of birthday parties.

The coalition has been at loggerheads over how to revive Germany’s economy. What problems is Germany’s economy facing? Party leader Alice Weidel has already hailed the coalition’s collapse as a “liberation” for Germany.

Nurphoto | Nurphoto | Getty ImagesDonald Trump's election victory over Vice President Kamala Harris marks a historic return to the White House — an extraordinary political comeback that is likely to have seismic ramifications for the global economy. The former president's litany of campaign pledges include steep tariffs, tax cuts, deregulation and a push to withdraw from key global agreements. Trump's favorite wordTrump has previously described "tariff" as his favorite word, calling it "the most beautiful word in the dictionary." And we don't see Trump's secondary tariff pledge — that baseline tariff, which would hurt European companies — as being all that feasible," Galbraith said. Analysts have warned that Trump's plan to impose universal tariffs are highly likely to raise prices for consumers and slow spending.

If González’s advantage over Dalmau prevails, the pro-statehood New Progressive Party would make history as the first in Puerto Rico to secure a third consecutive term. Next door in the 7th District, GOP state Rep. Ryan Mackenzie defeated Democratic Rep. Susan Wild, who had flipped a GOP seat in a 2018 special election. Republicans also flipped an open seat in Michigan’s 7th District, after Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin decided to run for the Senate. Because California is notoriously slow in counting ballots, some of the half-dozen hyper-competitive races there — critical to which party wins the House majority — likely will take days. In the 27th District, GOP Rep. Mike Garcia was narrowly beating Democrat George Whitesides with 65% of the vote in. In another California battleground race, NBC News projected Wednesday that GOP Rep. In her closing rally on the Ellipse last week, Kamala Harris scorned Donald J. Trump as an outlier who did not represent America. In fact, it turns out, that may be exactly who we are. With his comeback victory to reclaim the presidency, Mr. Trump has now established himself as a transformational force reshaping the United States in his own image. Populist disenchantment with the nation’s direction and resentment against elites proved to be deeper and more profound than many in both parties had recognized. Mr. Trump’s testosterone-driven campaign capitalized on resistance to electing the first woman president.

"The expectation among bond traders coming into the election was that rates would move higher in the event of a Trump victory and especially a red sweep. "The builder stocks are highly sensitive to mortgage rates and mortgage rate expectations. Big builders have been buying down mortgage rates for their customers, but that has been cutting into their margins. Mortgage rates don't follow the Fed, but do react to the central bank's thinking on the economy. Stronger-than-expected economic reports in September and October caused bond yields, and consequently mortgage rates, to move higher.

We still don't know who will control the House next year, and it could take days to count votes. But we still don't know who controls the House of Representatives, and the outcome will have major implications for the first two years of Trump's second term. "As more results come in it is clear that, as we have predicted all along, Republicans are poised to have unified government in the White House, Senate, and House," said House Speaker Mike Johnson in a statement on Wednesday morning. A Democratic House would be a major constraint on Trump's powerHistorically, newly elected presidents have typically enjoyed unified government at the beginning of their terms. Allowing those provisions to simply expire would cause most Americans to experience a major tax hike.

CNN —Speaker Mike Johnson and the GOP are feeling increasingly bullish about holding onto the House of Representatives, believing they have defied political gravity in key suburban seats as President-elect Donald Trump powered his party toward what may become a full sweep of Washington. But House Republicans and Democrats alike privately believe the GOP will maintain control, according to a half-dozen senior campaign operatives. “We’re going to hold the House,” one senior GOP campaign official said Wednesday. However, House Democrats insist it’s too early for a post-mortem. “We need to pitch a perfect game and that probably won’t happen,” a senior House Democrat campaign official said.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced Wednesday he had dismissed Finance Minister Christian Lindner, possibly bringing an end to Germany's ruling coalition after months of political wrangling. The three-year-old union between Scholz's Social Democratic Party (SPD), the Greens and Lindner's Free Democratic Party (FDP) has been on shaky ground for some time, with differing budget and economic policy positions causing tensions and clashes. It wasn't immediately clear if Lindner's departure would lead to the FDP exiting the coalition. Scholz said he would call for a vote of no confidence on Jan. 15 in parliament, raising the possibility of elections earlier than scheduled in March. But that is precisely not Christian Lindner's focus right now, he is focused on his own clientele."

Abu Dhabi and Jerusalem CNN —If his first term in the White House is any indication, President-elect Donald Trump is likely to keep the Middle East high on his agenda. Elon Musk joins former US President Donald Trump during a campaign event in Butler, Pa., on Oct. 5, 2024. “I love Elon Musk,” Trump said at a rally in July. It’s not clear how Musk and Trump would navigate the ethical questions around a possible government role for the tech billionaire. “He would be in much less trouble in a Trump administration because Trump shares his hostility to regulation and regulators,” Richard Pierce, a law professor at George Washington University specializing in government regulation, told NBC News in an interview earlier this year.
