CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz has had a banner year. The new regulations will likely offer upside for CrowdStrike, Kurtz said. For every dollar companies paid CrowdStrike to respond to hacks, CrowdStrike collected roughly $6 on average in new subscription revenue, Kurtz said. "It's not something we can answer" for companies, Kurtz said. While incident response is good business for CrowdStrike, Kurtz emphasized that CrowdStrike's main focus is "to help customers prevent these sorts of attacks upfront and provide visibility."

Russia's air force seems to be increasingly using 1,100-pound cluster bombs. Moscow "has likely started to more frequently employ" the RBK-500, a 1,100-pound bomb, over the past month, Britain's defense ministry wrote in a Wednesday intelligence update. Reports indicate the RBK-500 has been used against Kyiv's forces near the eastern Ukrainian front-line cities of Vuhledar and Avdiivka, Britain's defense ministry said. Sophisticated air defense on both sides has kept the sky above the battlefield contested, with neither Ukraine nor Russia's air force able to achieve air superiority. Hackers who compromised Okta's customer support system stole data from all of the cybersecurity firm's customer support users, Okta said in a letter to clients Tuesday, a far greater incursion than the company initially believed. An Okta spokesperson told CNBC that customers in government or Department of Defense environments were not impacted by the breach. It also makes Okta a high-profile target for hackers, who can exploit vulnerabilities or misconfigurations to gain access to a slew of other targets. Bloomberg first reported on the letter to Okta customers. Okta first disclosed earlier this month that its customer support system had been hacked but said at the time that around 130 customers were impacted by the breach.

BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt knows Fanatics and ESPN Bet are looking to eat his lunch. And a new crop of competitors including Fanatics and Penn Entertainment's ESPN Bet are vying for its position. LionsgateThis year's Thanksgiving box office was both feast and famine for the theatrical industry. Meanwhile, Disney's latest animated feature "Wish," which celebrates the company's 100th anniversary, fell startlingly short of box office expectations, tallying just $31.7 million over its first five days in theaters. "It wouldn't be a holiday box office season without some occasional upsets and this weekend is delivering on that front," said Shawn Robbins, chief analyst at BoxOffice.com. Overall, the Thanksgiving box office secured around $172 million, an improvement over the previous three years of pandemic-pressured ticket sales. Prior to the coronavirus outbreak, the five-day Thanksgiving spread — consisting of the Wednesday before Thanksgiving through Sunday — had resulted in more than $250 million in ticket sales each year.

Neither of the weekend’s top new releases — “Wish” and Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon” — could keep up with Lionsgate's “Hunger Games” prequel. With an estimated budget of $200 million, “Napoleon” may still have a long road to reach profitability for Apple, which partnered with Sony to distribute “Napoleon” theatrically. “Wish," at least, is faring better than Disney’s Thanksgiving release last year: 2022's “Strange World" bombed with a five-day $18.9 million opening. Alexander Payne's film starring Paul Giamatti as a boarding school instructor made $3.8 million over the five-day weekend. Ticket sales overall reached $172 million in U.S. and Canada theaters over the five-day holiday weekend, according to Comscore.

New York CNN —Nearly 900,000 Americans sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner this week will have unions – and the double-digit pay increases they won – to thank. The strike lasted more than six weeks before the union won contracts it was seeking from all three unionized US automakers. The unions won significant pay increases and job protections they were seeking. And even with some of the contracts that pass, some union members offer significant opposition, believing they could have negotiated for even more. The union won a contract approved by 86% of membership who voted on ratification.
