Exit polls are conducted by Edison Research for the National Election Pool on behalf of a consortium of media companies: CNN, ABC, CBS and NBC. The polling locations were themselves selected through random sampling, meaning the resulting interviews should be representative of Election Day voters across the state or nationally. In addition to the national exit poll, there are also exit polls conducted in specific states with key, competitive presidential or down-ballot races. Even so, exit polls are still polls, with margins for error – which means they’re most useful when treated as estimates, rather than precise measurements. That’s particularly true for the earliest exit poll numbers, which won’t yet have been adjusted to match the final election results.

Voting has now wrapped up in all seven swing states and most others. But no swing states have been called, and the race will hinge on their results. Bomb threats roiled polling places in swing states, including Georgia, Arizona and Michigan. Though the election is by no means over, Mr. Trump is showing strength, winning states like Texas and Florida easily. A disturbance in the Caribbean strengthened into Tropical Storm Rafael on Monday afternoon. Rafael is the 17th named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, and will be the 11th hurricane if it strengthens further, as expected. The storm system is expected to approach the United States later in the week, the hurricane center said, and a tropical storm watch was issued Monday afternoon for the lower and middle Florida Keys and for the Dry Tortugas. A hurricane warning has been issued for the Cayman Islands, and a tropical storm warning is in effect for Jamaica. The government of Cuba issued a hurricane watch for a handful of provinces, and a tropical storm watch for other areas.

Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki, located on Flores Island in East Nusa Tenggara province, erupted on Sunday at 11:57 p.m. local time (11:57 a.m. “We have started evacuating residents since this morning to other villages” that are located about 13 miles from the crater, he said. In May, a volcano on the remote island of Halmahera, Mount Ibu, led to the evacuation of people from seven villages. North Sulawesi’s Ruang volcano also erupted in the spring, prompting authorities to evacuate more than 12,000 people.

Palantir shares jumped 13% in extended trading on Monday after the data analytics software maker reported robust third-quarter results and revenue guidance. With respect to guidance, Palantir called for fourth-quarter revenue of $767 million to $771 million. It now sees $2.805 billion to $2.809 billion, compared with $2.742 billion to $2.750 billion in August. The company is targeting over $687 million in U.S. commercial revenue for the year, implying about 24% of the total. The Monday night town hall marks just the latest election-related event that Musk attempted to host on X that was plagued by technical difficulties. At least five people were injured after heavy rain and tornadoes ripped through Oklahoma Saturday night leading into Sunday morning. Video shows that Newcastle Elementary School in the Oklahoma City metro area sustained major damage, including tiling that fell off of the building's facade. KFORElsewhere in Oklahoma City, mounds of debris, including wood and sheetrock, could be seen strewn about around a community. It's not clear whether they were injured as a result of the tornadoes or the heavy rainfall, but the fire department said they responded to several vehicles that had been flooded. Most of Oklahoma remains under flood watch with a threat of heavy rainfall and over 51,000 utility customers do not have power as of 10:30 a.m.
