CNN —Thomas Tuchel has been announced by the English FA as the next head coach of the England men’s football team, three months after Gareth Southgate resigned from the role. This will be Tuchel’s first appointment in international football. He has previously taken charge of Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and Premier League side Chelsea, guiding the Blues to the UEFA Champions League title in 2021, before managing Bayern Munich in Germany. Full disclosure: One of my bold predictions entering the season was that Rattler would wind up taking Derek Carr’s job this season. The bigger concern is the Saints’ defense, which surrendered 600 yards and 50 points and allowed the Bucs to convert 6 of 10 third downs. It doesn’t matter who plays quarterback — the Saints defense has to put up some resistance.

After a decadeslong career as a graphic designer, I decided to pursue a teaching career at 60. I remember my first day walking up to the entrance of my training school as clear as day. During teacher training, a staff member is there to mentor and take you under their wing. I may make less, but teaching has been extremely rewardingI finished my teacher training and graduated with my PGCE in 2022. Financially, I make less as a teacher than in my professional graphic design career.

CNN —It was an emotional night for Greece at Wembley Stadium on Thursday as the country’s football team paid tribute to teammate George Baldock, who was recently found dead in a swimming pool at his home in Athens. Greece recorded the first win over England in the national team’s history, as Vangelis Pavlidis’ last-minute strike secured a famous 2-1 victory. Pavlidis gave Greece the lead early in the second half and it looked as though the team would hold on until full time against a toothless England side. CNN —Archaeologists have identified the cannibalized remains of a senior officer who perished during an ill-fated 19th century Arctic expedition, offering insight into its lost crew’s tragic and grisly final days. The remains identified as Fitzjames’ in the new study, published September 24 in the Journal of Archaeological Science, were among them. The remains of James Fitzjames, a senior officer who took part in Sir John Franklin's lost expedition to the Northwest Passage, showed signs of having been cannibalized, a new study said. However, unlike Fitzjames’ remains, Gregory’s bones did not display any cut marks suggestive of cannibalism. Canada’s national parks service and the Inuit communities found the final resting place of the HMS Erebus in 2014 and the HMS Terror in 2016.

LONDON — The U.K. economy grew 0.2% in August on a month-on-month basis, flash figures published by the Office for National Statistics showed Friday. Gross domestic product (GDP) came in line with the expectations of economists polled by Reuters, who had forecast growth of 0.2%. Britain's economic growth was up 0.2% in the three months to August, compared with the 0.5% recorded in the three months to July. Finance Minister Rachel Reeves welcomed the data, saying returning the economy to growth is the government's "number one priority." "With interest rates beginning to fall, the responsibility has shifted from the Bank of England to Rachel Reeves, who must now make critical fiscal decisions.

My long-distance partner and I moved to Massachusetts thinking it was a great place to merge lives. We advanced our careers in Boston but found it to be too expensive and not a great fit for us. The city wasn't what we expected, and we struggled to get used to itBoston had beautiful foliage in the fall but it wasn't enough to make up for our issues with the city. Even our cats, confined to a too-small apartment with views of a similarly run-down building beside us, seemed to feel it: Boston wasn't for us.
