Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas canceled his scheduled meeting this week with President Biden, senior Arab officials said, following an explosion at a Gaza hospital that Palestinian health officials say killed more than 500 people.
Biden had been scheduled to meet with Abbas in Amman, Jordan, after his visit to Israel on Wednesday.
Biden was also expected to meet with Jordanian King Abdullah and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi in Amman to discuss humanitarian efforts and other elements of the conflict.
The cancellation by one of Biden’s principal interlocutors in the region threw into question whether he would follow through with the visit.
