That is well above the 1.6% third-quarter earnings gain estimated by analysts Oct. 1. LSEG said that 81.3% of the quarterly reports surpassed analysts' earnings expectations, which is the highest beat rate since the second quarter of 2021. Microsoft (MSFT.O) was among the big-name S&P 500 companies that produced above-expectation results, with its cloud-computing and PC businesses growing as customers anticipate using its artificial-intelligence offerings. Stocks have risen since the end of the October, and on Friday the S&P 500 hit its highest level intraday since Sept. 20.

A researcher for Microsoft-owned (MSFT.O) LinkedIn said Black Cube, based in Israel, created a network of fake personas that used bogus job postings to connect with their targets on the platform. Black Cube did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment. The operation attributed to Black Cube by LinkedIn began in 2020 and targeted at least 12 activists and journalists who have been critical of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

Nov 8 (Reuters) - Swedish electric vehicle maker Polestar trimmed its 2023 delivery forecast on Wednesday to the lower end of its earlier guidance and halved its gross margin target, amid fears of a slowdown in EV demand and global economic uncertainty. Polestar, which operates in 27 markets globally, said it would now deliver about 60,000 vehicles this year, down from between 60,000 to 70,000. It had reiterated that forecast just last month after slashing the target in May from the 80,000 it had estimated earlier. LONDON, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Shell (SHEL.L) is suing Greenpeace for $2.1 million in damages after the environmental group's activists boarded the company's oil production vessel in transit at sea this year, according to Greenpeace and a document seen by Reuters. Greenpeace activists boarded the vessel in January near the Canary Islands off the Atlantic coast of northern Africa to protest oil drilling and travelled on it as far as Norway. Boarding a moving vessel at sea was "unlawful and extremely dangerous," a Shell spokesperson said. Four Greenpeace activists used ropes to hoist themselves onto the vessel from inflatable boats that chased the ship at high speed. Protests at sea against oil, gas or mining infrastructure have long been part of Greenpeace's operations.

The Biden administration had suspended the tariffs on EU steel and aluminium imposed by former U.S. President Donald Trump in 2018 on condition that a deal was reached by the end of October. Many lawmakers expressed concern that the talks had dragged on without success, but Jourova said the two sides had made "important progress". WASHINGTON, Nov 8 (Reuters) - A U.S. military MQ-9 drone was shot down on Wednesday by Yemen's Houthis, two U.S. officials and the Iran-aligned Houthi movement said. While U.S. drones have been shot down by Houthis in the past, this incident comes at a particularly tense time in the region. The U.S. officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the drone, made by General Atomics, had been brought down off the coast of Yemen. In a statement, a Houthi military spokesperson said they shot down the drone in airspace over Yemeni territorial waters. Nov 7 (Reuters) - Qraft Technologies on Tuesday launched its fifth exchange-traded fund (ETF) that relies on artificial intelligence to select holdings, continuing its expansion of the niche AI ETF market. The LG Qraft AI-Powered U.S. Large-Cap Core ETF will combine Qraft's existing AI models with additional AI-powered forecasting tools developed by LG (003550.KS), the South Korean electronics conglomerate. LG AI Research, a division of LG, has been applying artificial intelligence to everything from supply and demand forecasting to raw materials purchasing decisions. Qraft is a financial technology firm based in Seoul, South Korea that has developed and launched a suite of AI-powered ETFs traded on U.S. exchanges. LG AI Research's 260-person engineering team adds large language modeling tools, he said, referring to artificial intelligence tools that are trained to recognize, understand and analyze text.

The global private credit market, with more than $1.3 trillion in assets under management, makes up about 12% of the alternatives market, investment firm BlackRock said in a recent report. Private credit is largely owned by buy-and-holdinvestors such as pension funds, endowments, foundations and insurance companies, the report said. "The rapid growth of the private credit market in recent years has introduced new challenges and opportunities for investors, who are looking for fresh analysis from a trusted source," said Moody's president Michael West. The private credit group will have a team of more than 50 analysts in different geographies looking into private credit in institutions such as business development companies, collateralized loan obligations, insurance and asset management companies.
