The crown prince of Dubai has been appointed as minister of defense for the United Arab Emirates as part of a broader cabinet shuffle, Dubai ruler and UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum posted on X. The 41-year-old Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, who has served as Dubai's crown prince since 2008, was also named as one of the UAE's deputy prime ministers. Boeing has started certification flight testing of its long-delayed 777-9 with U.S. aviation regulators onboard, the U.S. planemaker said in an emailed statement. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment out of office hours. Type inspection authorization is typically associated with the start of the certification process, made after the FAA has examined technical data. The milestone allows FAA pilots to participate in flight testing needed to certify the plane for normal operation. Boeing has said that the 777-9 test fleet will undergo the most thorough commercial flight test effort the planemaker has ever undertaken.

CNN —Writings on an ancient clay tablet have allowed experts to reconstruct a Bronze Age ship made of reeds and sail it on a maiden voyage off the coast of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It is the world’s largest reconstruction of a Bronze Age Magan boat, according to the team. The research project’s goals were to uncover ancient craftsmanship techniques, determine the connections between Bronze Age societies and better understand the role Abu Dhabi once played in Bronze Age trade. After passing five days of trials, the ship sailed toward Saadiyat Island off the coast of Abu Dhabi and the open sea on March 2 and 3. “Seeing the Magan Boat sail on the water for the first time actually took my breath away and brought tears to my eyes.”

Expats in Denmark are among the happiest with their work lives, according to the latest Expat Insider survey from InterNations, the online global community for people who've moved abroad. 1 for where people are most satisfied with their jobs, career opportunities and work-life balance, among other aspects. Denmark ranks highest for two groupings: work culture and satisfaction, as well as work and leisure. Some 84% of expats in Denmark are satisfied with their work-life balance, compared to a global average of 60%; a similar share are happy with their work hours and, on average, work 39.2 hours per week, compared with 42.5 hours for the global average. Many of these factors contribute to the fact that Denmark consistently ranks as one of the happiest countries in the world, according to the annual World Happiness Report.

Expats who live and work in Panama are among the happiest in the world, according to the latest Expat Insider report from InterNations, the global community for people who live abroad. 1 country for expats out of 53 countries in this year's report, which surveyed more than 12,500 people in February about how satisfied they feel with their lives in a foreign country. A majority, 82% of people who move to Panama say they're happy with their lives, compared with 68% of expats around the world. Singapore Airlines is no longer the best airline in the world as Qatar Airways now holds the top spot, according to air transport rating firm Skytrax. Singapore Airlines is now in second position on the ranking, Skytrax announced Monday, followed by Emirates in third place which is one spot higher than last year. A series of other awards were presented by Skytrax alongside the top airlines ranking, including regional breakdowns and awards for different types of flights. Overall winner Qatar Airways was also voted the world's best business class and the top airline in the Middle East, while second-placed Singapore Airlines topped the lists for the world's best cabin crew and best first class, as well as the best airline in Asia. Delta Air Lines topped the North America regional top ten, followed by Air Canada, United Airlines, Porter Airlines and Air Transat.
