Aug 23 (Reuters) - NetApp (NTAP.O) reported first-quarter revenue above Wall Street estimates on Wednesday, driven by strong demand for cloud based services from businesses. Enterprise spending on cloud held strong as businesses moved to upgrade their technology infrastructure that is core to their operations and also incorporate newer AI capabilities. NetApp also reiterated its profit and revenue outlook for fiscal 2024. NetApp's total revenue for the quarter ended July 28 was $1.43 billion, compared to analysts' estimate of $1.41 billion, according to Refinitiv data. The company earned an adjusted profit of $1.15 per share, which beat expectations of $1.07 per share.

Hong Kong CNN —China has fined Mintz Group, an American corporate due diligence firm, about $1.5 million for allegedly conducting unapproved statistical work in the country, as it continues with a nationwide crackdown on consulting firms in the name of national security. The fine came to light months after authorities closed the firm’s Beijing office in March and detained five of its local employees. Mintz’s Beijing office had carried out “foreign-related statistical investigations” without seeking and obtaining approvals, which violated two Chinese regulations, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics said in a statement on its website dated July 14. The authorities imposed a fine totaling 10.69 million yuan ($1.49 million) on the company and ordered it to stop conducting such investigations in the country. Days after the raid occurred, a spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry said Mintz was suspected of “illegal business operations.”Since then, Chinese regulators launched a broader crackdown on consulting firms.

The change drew the ire of several P&G investors. Its new forestry policy could put it at odds with a European Union deforestation law coming into effect in about 18 months banning certain goods linked to deforestation and forest degradation. July 25 (Reuters) - Pacific Premier Bancorp (PPBI.O) said on Tuesday that a cybersecurity incident at a third-party vendor has led to data leak of its bank's clients, becoming the latest victim of the MOVEit hack. The vendor confirmed that personal data had been compromised in the incident, which involved popular file transfer tool MOVEit, Pacific Premier said in a regulatory filing. Firms, institutions and government departments using file sharing software MOVEit have recently been hit by data breaches. On Monday, consumer and commercial bank 1st Source Corp (SRCE.O) said a security breach that involved MOVEit has impacted about 450,000 records. MOVEit, made by Massachusetts-based Progress, allows organizations to securely transfer files and data between business partners and customers.

Consumer goods giant Unilever has confirmed it will comply with legislation that could see its employees in Russia conscripted into the war in Ukraine. It has around 3,000 employees in Russia, working across four manufacturing sites and one head office. Ecclissato said in the letter that Unilever has faced three options for its Russia operations. One was closing all Russia operations, after which he said Unilever's business and brands in the country would be "appropriated — and then operated — by the Russian state." The third, which Unilever has adopted, was continuing to run the business with constraints that have been in place since March.
