An Air Canada chatbot told a customer he could receive a bereavement discount after traveling to his grandma's funeral. Air Canada unsuccessfully argued the chatbot's misleading information wasn't its responsibility. After exchanging emails for three months, an Air Canada representative told Moffatt the chatbot had provided "misleading words." When the case was brought to the tribunal, Air Canada asked the adjudicator to dismiss Moffatt's claim. "In effect, Air Canada suggests the chatbot is a separate legal entity that is responsible for its own actions," wrote Christopher Rivers, the adjudicator.

Not having a car means I don't have to worry about having bills for car payments, gas, parking, and car insurance, not to mention regular and surprise maintenance costs. I spend a lot of time planning out my bus routes, especially to nearby cities. I see the bus ride as my third place, somewhere I can spend time doing things that make me happy. Learning the bus routes has also helped me explore neighborhoods in Seattle. And if I ever need a car ride, an occasional Uber ride is much cheaper than owning a car on my own.

Jesse L. Martin Is Watching You

Jesse L. Martin can tell when you’re lying. “There’s also intense eye contact,” he said, demonstrating this across a low table in the bar of a downtown hotel last week. Martin, 55, plays Alec Mercer, a professor of behavioral science at a fictional university. He solves each week’s case by applying one or more behavioral science concepts — the halo effect, the Barnum effect, paradoxical persuasion. Almost pathologically observant, Alec is based on Dan Ariely, a superstar in the field of behavioral science, and Martin has absorbed a morsel of those powers.

The research, which involved surveying almost 1,900 people living in 15 municipalities in the Vancouver region of British Columbia, found no evidence that higher-density living is associated with decreased happiness, social connection, or well-being. AdvertisementWell-designed density — think pedestrian-friendly streets with easy access to transit and amenities like shops, restaurants, and parks — was positively correlated with well-being and happiness. These findings are important for city planners and builders to understand, so they can incorporate design elements that promote well-being.

Taylor Swift often encourages her fans to devise fanciful theories about her music, but this week a very different type of wild speculation sprung up around her: political conspiracy theories being peddled by Fox News, Trump surrogates and the extended MAGA universe. The theories range widely, but include outlandish claims that Ms. Swift is secretly working for the United States government and that her relationship with Travis Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, is part of a lengthy political scheme. ends with the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl and Ms. The attacks may be intended to embolden a right wing base, and perhaps change a few minds in other parts of the political universe, but Swifties, predictably, remain indifferent.

Even Whistler Blackcomb ski resort was only a two-hour drive from home — where the diverse terrain and charming village are world-famous and Winter Olympics-worthy for good reason. The ride in a private taxi to Niseko, Hokkaido took around two hours. Here are five reasons Niseko offered a better experience than Whistler, but why I would still choose the North American ski resort over the Japanese ski destination. Even if the snow in Whistler isn't as consistent, it surpasses the Japanese ski town for many reasons. We will probably make our way back to a different ski resort in Japan while living in Asia.

The world's most liveable cities — for the wealthyThe rising cost of housing, food, and other household goods is helping worsen the affordability crisis in these cities. Vienna, for example, has kept housing costs remarkably low through its generous social housing system. Alone with his mother for the first time in almost a year, Andrey Shevelyov had a question: Could he come home? The hotel room had a sour, rancid smell, and clothes lay mounded in a corner. Clean-shaven now, Andrey looked younger than his 31 years, like the gentle, artistic boy he had been before the psychosis took hold. Fearful of being evicted from their apartment, she and her husband, Sam, sought a no-contact order to keep Andrey away. Now they were together in Room 117 in a budget hotel overlooking the interstate.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A man who stormed the U.S. Capitol with fellow Proud Boys extremist group members was sentenced on Wednesday to six years in prison after he berated and insulted the judge who punished him. The judge warned Bru that he could be kicked out of the courtroom if he continued to disrupt the proceedings. Prosecutors described Bru as one of the least remorseful rioters who assaulted the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. He later joined other rioters inside the Capitol and entered the Senate gallery, where he flashed a hand gesture associated with the Proud Boys as he posed for selfie photos. He has “continued to spew disinformation” from jail since his re-arrest and trial, prosecutors said.
