Did NASA’s Perseverance Rover just discover remnants of ancient life on Mars? Scientists working on the mission are too cautious to claim so, but they are over-the-moon excited about the most intriguing rock that the rover has come across in more than three years of exploring Mars. Within the rock, Perseverance’s instruments detected organic compounds, which would provide the building blocks for life as we know it. The rover also found veins of calcium sulfate — mineral deposits that appear to have been deposited by flowing water. Liquid water is another key ingredient for life.

AdvertisementIt took me five years to graduate college because of illnessThat's when I decided that I had NH1-PN; it didn't have me. At that age, I wasn't thinking about college because I thought I'd never be able to afford it. That's when I developed a new dream: to be the first person in my family to graduate from college. It meant a lot to be able to show them that there was no excuse for not going to college. I knew they were right, and I wasn't going to let that hold me back.

Louis Lehot, a Silicon Valley law-firm partner, specializes in taking companies from startup to IPO. The IPO market is expected to pick up later this year, so Business Insider emailed Silicon Valley lawyer Louis Lehot, a partner at Foley & Lardner, for advice on how startups should prepare for life as public companies. Are public market investors generally keen to invest in IPOs, or are they focused elsewhere? Public market investors are selective, focusing on established profitability and sustainable growth over speculative, high-growth stories. What are the key process changes companies need to make ahead of an IPO?

It wasn’t that long ago that many Republicans fully supported the most compelling of Biden’s ideas: term limits for justices. Term limits were also supported by Senator Marco Rubio, and Senator Ted Cruz proposed putting justices up for election every eight years. But an 18-year maximum tenure for justices, as Biden and many others have proposed, shouldn’t be ping-ponged around by whatever faction is dissatisfied with the current court. Through the 1960s, the average term on the court was around 15 years; after 1970, it became about 26 years. The founders did not fully anticipate how a justice might become insulated from reality after serving on the court for many decades.

I am far from the only young conservative whose interest in politics was sparked by the issue of abortion. Along the way, many of us found ourselves in the Republican Party, often picking up other conservative causes along the way — low taxes, limited government, strong defense, border security. While traditional social conservatives and the Republican Party might be allies on some key issues, it looks like it is no longer just one political party that wants us to shelve our convictions in the name of political expediency. A secularizing America, plus the shifting composition of the Republican Party, means many G.O.P. Many young conservatives, in particular, seem more enthusiastic about owning the libs than strengthening the family.

I've learned surprising truths about my children since the horror of the October 7 terror attack on Israel and the ensuing war in Gaza. I live with my husband and three kids in a mixed city in Israel, where Jews, Muslims, and Christians live together. She told me that she was trying to close the iron blast door of the safe room but that it was too heavy for her. Buildings erected in Israel since the 1990s have built-in safe rooms to avoid bombs and air strikes. She took her hand and guided her to her own safe room, where she looked after her until I returned.

CNN —Vegetables are great not only for their versatility — they can be eaten raw or cooked, whole or chopped — but also for their health benefits. Eating three servings of baby carrots a week can give a significant boost of important nutrients found in the orange root vegetables, according to a new unpublished study presented June 30 in Chicago at Nutrition 2024, the annual meeting of the American Society for Nutrition. After four weeks, the researchers found those who ate the carrots had a 10.8% increase in carotenoids in their skin, natural antioxidants found to have health benefits, such as preventing inflammation and promoting heart health, according to the Cleveland Clinic. But those who consumed the carrots and the supplement saw the most benefits and increased their skin carotenoids by 21.6%. Eating vegetables can protect against heart disease, some cancers, diabetes and obesity, according to the CDC.
