Mpahlwa was among the first Black Africans permitted to study architecture in South Africa. “South Africa was in a state of emergency,” he said. Nov 28 (Reuters) - Spending online on Cyber Monday is set to exceed $12 billion, a record, as bargain hunters snap up deals on items including Barbie dolls, Lego sets, headphones and smart watches, according to preliminary estimates from Adobe Digital Insights. The estimate projects U.S. shoppers will spend $12 billion-$12.4 billion on Cyber Monday, the biggest U.S. online shopping day. At the top end, this would represent an 9.7% increase compared to the $11.3 billion spent on Cyber Monday last year. So a few years ago, the school district decided to try something new at the high school: classrooms voluntarily separated by race. Fourteen months between a deadly high school shooting and another at MSU. CNN —Renewed fighting between the Myanmar Armed Forces (MAF) and the Arakan Army (AA) has displaced more than 26,000 people in the country’s western Rakhine state since Monday, according to the United Nations. More than 100 people have reportedly been detained by the MAF and five by the AA, it added. The most recent fighting began when the AA reportedly attacked two border posts near the Maungdaw township, which is near the border with Bangladesh. Most humanitarian activities have been suspended due to the fighting and “virtually all roads and waterways” between Rakhine townships have been blocked, the statement read. Whole villages have been burned down by junta soldiers and schools, clinics and hospitals destroyed in the attacks.

Worrell, 18; and Katelyn N. Owens, 15. The others who died were a high school teacher, Dave Kennat, 56, and two parents who had been chaperoning: Kristy Gaynor, 39; and Shannon Wigfield, 45. On Tuesday night, a crowd gathered for a vigil on a grassy field as Derek Varansky, the superintendent of Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools, read aloud the names of the victims.

Portia Stafford, a petite and usually soft-spoken 22-year-old, shouted through the razor wire at the burly men guarding the construction site in Soweto, a sprawling township in South Africa. When a guard threatened to shoot, the group backed off and Ms. Stafford felt her resolve deflate.
