An 11-month-old baby died after being accidentally shot in the head by a toddler inside a parked car in San Antonio on Monday, police said. Counterfeiting has ballooned into a massive problem for Crye, costing it millions of dollars a year, said Jonathan Antone, the company's general counsel. By 2016, sellers were speaking out about Amazon's growing counterfeit problem, telling CNBC of the company's effort to openly court Chinese manufacturers. "There's a lot more space on that digital shelf for potential counterfeit products," he added. Agents seized "multiple tractor trailer loads" of counterfeit MultiCam products, estimated to be worth $8 million, according to court documents. Crye showed CNBC examples of counterfeit MultiCam products that were allegedly sold by retailer L&Q Tactical, one of the defendants in the lawsuit, on Amazon.

☆ Reddit Ad Targeting Gets Boost From Memorable AI Acquisition

Reddit acquired Memorable AI in August in a deal that valued the startup at just under $40 million, including performance-based earnouts. Memorable AI uses AI models to predict which images and videos will catch users' attention and encourage them to engage with an ad. Acevedo, a Memorable AI cofounder who had been the startup's CEO, now leads product for Reddit's new ads media intelligence team, which combines data on creative performance with the company's advertising AI models. Fosco, a fellow cofounder who had been Memorable AI's chief technology officer, leads engineering in the ads intelligence team. "The acquisition of Memorable AI, coupled with its focus on creative effectiveness, now gives Reddit the missing piece to continue improving performance for our advertisers," Fosco said.

☆ European stocks close lower as traders focus on earnings and bond yields

European markets closed lower Wednesday as investors in the region focused on corporate reports and U.S. Treasury yields. The pan-European Stoxx 600 index provisionally closed around 0.3% lower, with most sectors and major bourses in the red. There were earnings aplenty on Wednesday, with Deutsche Bank beating expectations in its return to profit in the three months to September. Shares of the German lender continued their decline after a German court ruled against the company in a long-standing legal dispute with shareholders who alleged the lender underpaid in its acquisition of German retail bank Postbank. Volvo Cars traded 5.9% lower, AkzoNobel was down 3.5% and L'Oreal fell 2.5% after the firms reported earnings earlier.
