The Big Tech earnings next week could revive a flagging market, or at least give investors direction into where stocks are going from here. Wall Street is hoping next week's megacap tech results will give investors insight into where the artificial intelligence trade is going from here, as a bounce in tech could lift the indexes. They're also hoping a slew consumer commentary will give investors insight into the state of the economy. However, he said any pullback in the tech names could give investors an opening to start "nibbling away" at additional exposure. Personal Income 10 a.m. Michigan Sentiment NSA final Earnings: T. After a slow start to the year, several restaurant chains are due to emerge as the winners this earnings season, according to Jefferies. First of all, same-store sales only modestly recovered in March to around flat, while the key metric was down 4.5% in January and 0.6% in February, analyst Andy Barish wrote. He added customer traffic remains challenged as well, although this varies from restaurant brand to restaurant brand, while consumers have simultaneously grown more cautious about their spending. Jefferies believes that the restaurant chain's earnings per share will come in line, while same-store sales are more likely to have some upside. Barish sees first-quarter U.S. same-store sales and earnings per share estimates coming in line with analyst expectations, while EBITDA could surprise to the upside.

On a recent afternoon, the kitchen inside a Denny’s in the Jackson Heights neighborhood of Queens was bustling. Some orders were whisked away to customers sitting in booths, while others were boxed and set aside for pickup. The takeout orders were mostly from the Denny’s menu, but some were from the Burger Den and the Meltdown, two delivery-only brands that the chain owns. The strategy of maximizing kitchen resources blossomed during the Covid pandemic, when restrictions shut down indoor dining and customers ate more meals at home. As their kitchens sat idle, many restaurants across the country, desperate for revenue, switched to delivery mode.

Fast-food giants are rapidly deploying more order kiosks in the US. AdvertisementMajor US fast-food chains plan to aggressively add more digital order kiosks to their restaurants – and bring in bigger checks in the process. They make up "well over" half of its in-restaurant orders at these locations, CFO Katie Fogertey told investors in November. As well as labor savings, kiosk orders "tend to skew to dine-in" and thus use less packaging than other digital orders, she said. In the US, digital orders currently make up just 15% of Burger King's sales.

The last weekend of February, Sharif Hussein Farrag, a ceramic artist, raced colorful clay rats that he sculpted and placed on motorized vehicles around a sports field outside the Santa Monica Airport. The performative art piece was part of Frieze Los Angeles, a weekend-long contemporary art show, and Mr. Farrag, dressed in a white racing suit and waving a black and white checkered racing flag, explained to the steady stream of art critics, artists, collectors and spectators that it symbolized the “rat race” of capitalism. “It was a lot of attention,” said Mr. Farrag, 30, who is currently represented by François Ghebaly, a gallery in Los Angeles, but was doing this piece for the Art Production Fund, which supports public art projects across the country. “I was on display with my art.”But that was just the beginning of a whirlwind week. A week later, on March 9, he was at the Eden Garden Bar and Grill, a restaurant in Pasadena, Calif., marrying Alexandra Ann Plzak, 27, his girlfriend since college.
