She Got Her Dream House With a Promise: No Renovation
  + stars: | 2023-08-22 | by ( Tim Mckeough | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: 1 min
If you don’t try, you’ll never know what’s possible. That’s the philosophy Tracy Crawford adopted when she set out to buy and renovate her dream home. For seven years, Ms. Crawford had lived in an adequate house in Pittsfield, Mass., with her husband, Craig Crawford, and children, Riley, now 18, and Maggie, 14. But whenever they drove into the city center, they passed a 1938 house that was impressively large — 5,500 square feet, it turned out — on a bucolic six-acre property with a barn. “I was always like, ‘Oh, there’s my dream house,’” said Ms. Crawford, 54, the owner of Evergreen Home Real Estate.

But the Crop Watch producers are concerned that this heat could challenge the corn in particular as it continues to fill out kernels. Indiana picked up 2.5 inches last week, western Illinois 2.45 inches, Nebraska up to 1.4 inches, and South Dakota got 1 inch. That ties two other weeks out of the last six for the highest Crop Watch soybean yield prospects of the season so far. Crop Watch producers continue rating both crop conditions and yield potential on 1-to-5 scales. Photos of the Crop Watch fields can be tracked on my Twitter feed using handle @kannbwx.

The Chiefs trailed 17-7 at halftime, but Shane Buechele completed touchdown passes to Justyn Ross and Kekoa Crawford during the third quarter to put Kansas City ahead. It was 24-17 until Saints rookie quarterback Jake Haener found Ellis Merriweather for a 2-yard touchdown pass with 1:20 remaining in the game. But Chiefs QB Chris Oladokun tried a screen past left and Phillips, a defensive lineman, tipped it down to himself to give the Saints the ball in field-goal range. His 9-yard pass to Keelan Cole Sr. with 34 seconds left in the second quarter put the Raiders ahead 14-7. It tied the game at 7-7 with 8:29 left in the second quarter.

Crop Watch corn and soybean fields were stressed last week under mostly dry conditions, but multiple rounds of rain over the weekend prevented yield expectations from declining. Last week’s Crop Watch rain totals were mostly concentrated over the weekend, though not all areas received the needed soaking. More than 3 inches of rain were observed in South Dakota, Nebraska, western Iowa and western Illinois, and Indiana picked up 2 inches. For example, the western Iowa producer this week described his beans as phenomenal while the Ohio field was said to look incredible. The North Dakota corn is in Griggs County and the soybeans are in Stutsman County.

It was wonderful to have ‘Spider-Verse’ going on in the next room so we could point to it and say, ‘Look, they’re doing it. We can do it too, right?’”Films like “Into the Spider-Verse,” and those that have followed in its footsteps, blend animation techniques that are common in 3-D computer-generated movies with those that were commonplace in the 2-D hand-drawn animation that preceded it. It’s not just that the images are less photorealistic, the movements of the characters are as well. The results are more broadly impressionistic in the ways that Looney Tunes cartoons, Disney classics or decades of anime have been. “The Last Wish,” directed by Joel Crawford, is linked to the era of animation dominated by C.G.I.

CNN —TikTok’s song of the summer, the ecstatically explicit “One Margarita,” just got a raucous new music video — with a cameo from none other than supermodel Cindy Crawford. In the music video, Crawford recreates her famous 1992 Pepsi Super Bowl ad, in which she visited a dusty vending machine at a general store to grab and gulp a cold Pepsi while young boys ogled her. With one margarita, Moore raps, she’ll “open her legs.” By the time she’s had five margaritas, well, even her partner is feeling open to experimentation. From Giant Music“One Margarita (The Margarita Song)” was originally improvised by Moore on the spot in May. He had the World Boxing Organization welterweight title belt, which he has owned since 2018, draped over his left forearm, along with the green World Boxing Council belt, which he had just won from Errol Spence Jr. The other two belts, from the International Boxing Federation and the World Boxing Council, rested with members of Crawford’s entourage, who followed him to ringside for the postfight news conference. Crawford greeted Spence, whom he had just defeated by technical knockout in the ninth round of the most important boxing match of the year. Spence, his face red and swollen, and Crawford, his face unblemished, hugged and spoke with each other. Before Spence could exit, Crawford handed him the W.B.C.

As one of the co-hosts, this year’s Women’s World Cup was supposed to be the culmination of all this change; a celebration of Australia’s most beloved team. A shaky 1-0 win against Ireland kicked off the Matildas’ tournament before disaster struck once more and they succumbed to a shock 3-2 defeat against Nigeria. That 2015 run marked the Matildas’ best World Cup performance to date, after appearing in every edition since 1995. The assembled 75,784 fans represented a record crowd for a women’s soccer match in the country and the highest attendance at a Women’s World Cup for 24 years, according to FIFA. “It’s definitely transcended the traditional women’s community and so that’s really exciting.”Australia has played its part in making this the biggest Women’s World Cup in history.

But in Round 2, a quick exchange of punches ended with a short right jab from Crawford that put an off-balance Spence to the canvas. Spence opened the next round on offense, as if to prove the punch had not damaged him. As the punch traveled toward Crawford’s head, Crawford fired a short, sharp right hook that dropped Spence a second time. For Crawford, the result was a lesson on the value of turning defense into offense. Spence had hinted that the Crawford bout would be his last in the 147-pound welterweight division.

Elon Musk is willing to "burn so much down" and lives inside an "echo chamber," a former top Twitter lieutenant wrote in a lengthy post Wednesday on Musk's social media network, which alternated between defending and criticizing the billionaire. It was a sharp critique of a man who Crawford had publicly supported during her time at Twitter. Crawford oversaw the relaunch of Twitter Blue, one of Musk's early and hotly debated decisions at the company. But the initial rollout of Twitter Blue was full of turmoil, complete with impersonation issues, stacked verification badges and suspended launch in some areas. "This may really irritate the internet but you cannot pigeonhole me into some radical position of either loving or hating every change that's occurred," Crawford wrote.

Despite his sense of humor, Crawford said the billionaire's personality could "turn on a dime" and could be hard to predict.
