Buying a car can be stressful, especially when you're negotiating with dealers armed with tricks designed to get you to spend more money. Wiener said that of all the negotiating mistakes that buyers make, one looms above the rest. "You never want to say what you're willing to pay per month," Wiener said. Rather than laying out how much money you're open to spending on your car payment, you should instead determine what the dealership is willing to sell you the car for. He gave the example of a client who wanted to buy a car and put $10,000 down with 0% financing.

Kiro was no stranger to selling stuff online: he had made a few hundred bucks selling things like sneakers and Barbie dolls on eBay. But when he researched his "Zelda" game, he figured he'd be able to make a bit more than that. "I looked at price history and thought 'Oh, maybe at most I'll get like $17,000 or $20,000 if I'm lucky,'" he says. He put up the listing one night this past October and set the Buy It Now price at $17,000. Within minutes, his game had sold.

The YouTuber — real name Jimmy Donaldson — rakes in hundreds of millions of dollars from his YouTube channel and Feastables food brand. But despite bringing in revenue between $600 million and $700 million each year, Donaldson says he's not rich. His massive channel has 239 million subscribers, and his videos regularly get well over 100 million views. "Each video does a couple million in ad revenue, a couple million in brand deals," he told Time Magazine this week, which noted that brands pay between $2.5 million to $3 million for a shout-out in a video. "I've reinvested everything to the point of—you could claim—stupidity, just believing that we would succeed," he said.

Christopher Nolan's quirks as a director are well known, from the absence of chairs on his sets to his refusal to use a smartphone or email. Robert Downey Jr., who appeared in Nolan's historical epic "Oppenheimer" this past summer, says the 53-year-old director has a very specific quality that makes him a great leader. "He won't ask anyone to do anything that he's not a thousand percent willing to do himself, twice as hard," Downey Jr. told Variety in a joint interview with costars Cillian Murphy and Emily Blunt last month. A Nolan set, Murphy said, can feel "a bit like a private, intimate laboratory," something he appreciates as a performer. "Oppenheimer" earned 13 nominations at next month's Oscars, including acting nods for Murphy, Downey Jr. and Blunt, as well as Best Director for Nolan.

Before the Oscar nomination, before the sweatshirts and the mojo dojo casa house, it took some convincing to get Ryan Gosling to say "I'm Just Ken." In a recent profile in Variety, Gosling said he passed on the film when it was brought to him. And I would call months later to my agents or something and say, 'Hey, who did they get to play Ken?' Margot Robbie, who in addition to playing the titular Barbie also produced the film, pulled out all the stops to land her perfect co-star. On top of a reported salary of $12.5 million, it was an out-of-the-box offer from Robbie that put Gosling over the edge.

If the Chiefs come out on top and help Mahomes earn his third ring, the 28-year-old said he'll make sure the team gets to experience Vegas properly. It's an expensive proposition — the Chiefs' full Super Bowl roster is 53 players — but Mahomes can afford it. (Reuters) - At least 19 people were killed by forest fires in the coastal tourist city of Vina del Mar and the death toll could rise in the coming hours as rescue teams reach more affected areas, Interior Minister Carolina Toha said on Saturday. Throughout the country there were 92 active fires, leaving more than 43,000 hectares affected by the incident, Interior Minister Toha said. "The area with fires today is much smaller than last year (but) at this time the number of hectares affected is multiplying very rapidly," Toha said. Toha said that the authorities' greatest concern was that some of the active fires were developing very close to urban areas "with the very high potential to affect people, homes and facilities". He invested his own money to start Hinge, a dating platform the company says is "designed to be deleted." What started out as a small company that struggled to compete with now billion-dollar giants like Tinder, has grown to become one of the most popular apps in the dating space. In 2023, Hinge brought in $396 million in revenue.

Through college and Harvard Business School, McLeod had the desire to be an entrepreneur, but "nothing really clicked" for him. The lack of direction led him to accept a consulting job at McKinsey during his second year of business school. "That was kind of the standard job that you got coming out of business school." But his plans quickly changed soon after when he had the idea for a dating website called Hinge. "They finally got word that I had started Hinge and called me up and asked for their money back," he said.

CNN —Oregon leaders joined forces to declare a 90-day state of emergency in downtown Portland, funneling resources into the city’s deadly fentanyl crisis. Oregon voters passed Measure 110 in 2020, which decriminalized some use of hard-drugs, including fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid. The measure has received criticism, as opioid overdose deaths steadily climbed since. Opioid overdose deaths in the state increased from 280 in 2019 to 956 in 2022, according to the state’s data. Experts say reversing the trends in overdose deaths really depends on broader access to and use of treatments for opioid use disorder.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Several elected leaders in Oregon declared a state of emergency on Tuesday for downtown Portland over the public health and public safety crisis fueled by fentanyl. The declaration is a recommendation from a governor-established task force that met for several months last year to determine ways to rejuvenate downtown Portland. The effort also extends the Portland Police Bureau’s partnership with Oregon State Police to jointly patrol downtown streets for fentanyl sales. At the state level, Oregon lawmakers have introduced a new bill that would undo a key part of the state’s drug decriminalization law. Public opinion has soured on it as public drug use has become more visible because of growing homelessness.

Say the premium is $2 on that $195 strike heading into earnings and I am sitting on 100 shares (remember every options contract represents 100 shares). If, however, shares hit the $195 strike, then I am, as the seller of that option contract, obligated to sell my shares at $195. To implement this strategy, you would sell a put at a higher strike price and then purchase another put as insurance at a lower strike price. In this case, we would be laying out $2 (paying $3 to buy the $195 strike and collecting $1 by selling the $190 strike). There are two high-level factors that determine an options price, intrinsic value and time value.
