Former Canadian fashion mogul Peter Nygard was sentenced Monday in a Toronto courtroom to 11 years in prison for sexually assaulting four women. Nygard was found guilty of four counts of sexual assault in November but acquitted of a fifth count as well as one count of forcible confinement. He faces separate sexual assault and sex trafficking charges in Montreal, Winnipeg and the United States. All five women said their meetings or interactions with Nygard ended with sexual activity that they did not consent to. The drug works in part by clearing toxic plaques in the brain called amyloid, a hallmark of Alzheimer's, according to its manufacturers. The Mayo Clinic's center, which began screening patients for Leqembi in October, has 50 to 60 patients currently taking the drug, according to Petersen. The Mayo Clinic's Alzheimer's center similarly stops dosing patients if ARIA appears on an MRI, according to Petersen. Meeks' neurologist, Dr. Wendell Helveston, said a follow-up MRI picked up one small area of bleeding in her brain that didn't cause any symptoms.

The boreal forests are the largest forests in the world, and in Western Canada they evolved to burn once every century or so. What was troubling, Dr. Baltzer noted, is that fire isn’t supposed to make life harder for the black spruce tree. Any imbalance in this tug of war between life and death can threaten the boreal forests’ ability to store heat-trapping carbon. Given how huge the boreal forests are, her research could help shed light on which parts of the ecosystem were most important to protect.

CNN —The Boston Red Sox suspended All-Star outfielder Jarren Duran for two games without pay on Monday. After the game, the 27-year-old issued an apology through the Red Sox, saying, “During tonight’s game, I used a truly horrific word when responding to a fan. I apologize to the entire Red Sox organization, but more importantly to the entire LGBTQ community. The Red Sox lost to the Astros 10-2 Sunday night at Fenway Park with Duran going 0-3 with three strikeouts and a walk. Duran will miss the first two games of the series against the Texas Rangers at home starting Monday night.
