After Bulger was killed, prison officials were criticized for placing him in the general population instead of more protective housing.

A man previously identified as a leader in a “vicious” white supremacist gang was one of three inmates killed earlier this week in a Nevada prison fight, officials said. Zackaria Luz, 43, died after the fight Tuesday at Ely State Prison in eastern Nevada, the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Wednesday. In a news release Wednesday, the Nevada Department of Corrections said an investigation into the incident is ongoing and the prison remains on lockdown. A second inmate, Connor Brown, was also fatally injured in the fight, the sheriff’s office said. Authorities were still working to notify next-of-kin for the third inmate and did not identify him, the sheriff’s office said.

No one was injured and the prime minister was safely returned to his office. In the 1960s, many public pools were filled with concrete or destroyed to avoid allowing Black Americans to swim in them. In fact, park managers opted to shut down the Historic Audubon Park Natatorium in New Orleans, the largest public pool in the South, rather than see it integrated. Black children ages 10-14 years drown in swimming pools at a rate that is almost 8 times higher than White children. Third places are incredibly important for public health and wellbeing however because they give people a place to socialize and build community. We also need better national data about our public pool system that goes beyond project- or funding-specific tracking.

CNN —Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, co-founder and alleged current leader of the Mexican Sinaloa drug cartel, is in US custody, according to a diplomatic source with direct knowledge of the case. Joaquin Guzman Lopez, son of cartel co-founder Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman and another alleged leader of the cartel, is also in federal custody, said Attorney General Merrick Garland. The Sinaloa Cartel, named after the Mexican state where the gang was formed, is one of the most powerful drug-trafficking groups in the world, known for trafficking fentanyl, methamphetamine and heroin into the United States. The latest indictment against Zambada, one of the most notorious drug traffickers in Mexico’s history, was in February. It charged him with conspiring to manufacture and distribute a substance containing fentanyl, according to the US Justice Department.

Li Shangfu was ousted as defence minister last October without explanation, before being placed under a graft investigation.
