CNN —Human brain samples collected at autopsy in early 2024 contained more tiny shards of plastic than samples collected eight years prior, according to a preprint posted online in May. “Compared to autopsy brain samples from 2016, that’s about 50% higher,” Campen said. Nanoplastics are the most worrisome plastics for human health, experts say, because the minuscule pieces can take up residence inside individual cells. In that report, the consortium determined plastics are associated with harms to human health at every single stage of the plastic lifecycle. A March 2024 study found 1 liter of bottled water — the equivalent of two standard-size bottled waters typically purchased by consumers — contained an average of 240,000 plastic particles from seven types of plastics.

Read previewA top gut-health expert shared his go-to breakfast with Business Insider and common breakfast items that he no longer eats. So Dr. Tim Spector, a British epidemiologist, gut health expert, and cofounder of the science and nutrition company ZOE, has a go-to breakfast combination that he eats every morning that is balanced and gut-healthy. "I used to have granola with some skim milk, orange juice, and tea, and I thought that was a super healthy breakfast," he said. But since swapping to a more gut-friendly breakfast, Spector has found that he stays full "right through to lunch," and his energy levels are consistent all morning. A 2020 review of studies published in the journal Food Frontiers suggested that polyphenols are indeed good for gut health, and also that they help prevent chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases.

There was an element of market overreaction to that initial jobs report, Janet Mui, head of market analysis at RBC Brewin Dolphin, told CNBC's "Squawk Box Europe" on Thursday morning. CNN —When Adelaide Saywell posted on TikTok last month that SSRIs, a commonly prescribed antidepressant medication, could make people more vulnerable to heat, it went viral and sparked a deluge of comments. Adelaide Saywell received a flood of surprised comments when she posted about the link between SSRIs and heat intolerance. Dehydration puts people at risk of heat exhaustion and, in particularly severe cases, heat stroke, which is dangerous and potentially deadly. Sondeep Shankar/Bloomberg/Getty ImagesScientists and doctors are still trying to unpick the complex relationship between SSRIs and heat. It is partly the reason why medical professionals don’t always talk about heat when they prescribe these anti-depressants.

DuPont's water and protection segment may have seen a year-over-year decline in sales, but what matters most is that revenue was up 8% sequentially. Notably, DuPont's Water Solutions and Tyvek medical packaging businesses in China — an economy that's lately been a thorn in the side of so many companies — helped drive the quarter-over-quarter expansion. While there's been speculation that DuPont's water business is attracting interest from peers, management said the company has not had conversations about an outright sale. The range for operating EBITDA was raised to $3.06 billion to $3.11 billion, up from $2.9 billion to $3.05 billion previously. DuPont's third-quarter guidance of roughly $3.2 billion in sales, $815 million in operating EBITDA and adjusted EPS of $1.03 essentially matched expectations.

Former President Donald Trump is rushed offstage by U.S. Secret Service agents after being grazed by a bullet during a rally on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania. Anna Moneymaker/Getty ImagesMore than two weeks after Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt, federal investigators are still trying to uncover the motive of the former president’s would-be assassin. Rojek also said that Trump has agreed to sit for a victim interview with the FBI – a routine part of criminal investigations. Crooks, Rojek said, used aliases to make firearms-related purchases online, beginning in the spring of 2023. CNN has reported that text messages between law enforcement before the shooting began suggest that some officers raised Crooks’ presence at the rally more than 90 minutes before he climbed onto a roof and began firing at Trump.

How to Optimize Your Workout to Boost Your Mood

We’ve all encountered that person who comes back from the gym or a run seemingly high on life. In fact, scientists say that even a single bout of exercise can alter your neurochemistry in ways that create feelings of hope, calm, connection and a generally better mood. But for others, a workout just leaves them feeling worn out. And, they say, by making a few changes to your workout, you can train your body and mind to find exercise more pleasurable. But in recent decades, researchers have discovered a more complex cocktail of other key “feel-good” chemicals produced during movement.

CNN —Donald Trump has agreed to sit for a victim interview with the FBI, which is investigating this month’s attempted assassination, an agency official said Monday. “The interview of the former president will be consistent with any other victim interview that we do,” Kevin Rojek, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Pittsburgh Field Office, told reporters on a conference call Monday. The FBI wants to “get his perspective on what he observed, just like any other witness to the crime.”“It is a standard victim interview, like we would do for any other victim of crime under any other circumstances,” Rojek said. Crooks was “highly intelligent” and had a growing interest in shooting, Rojek said. But since they accessed the accounts, investigators found that the shooter was using the emails primarily to make online purchases.
