Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost to the Carolina Panthers, 21-3, on Oct. 23. The most pivotal clash during the penultimate week of this NFL season isn’t the high-profile showdown between Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals, two Super Bowl favorites. It’s actually between two teams with a losing record. One of them is the Carolina Panthers, who are 6-9, fired their head coach, traded away their star running back and cut their starting quarterback. They should be spending the weekend scouting talent at the College Football Playoff.

Hackett is the third NFL head coach fired during the 2022 season. The Carolina Panthers replaced Matt Rhule with interim head coach Steve Wilks and the Indianapolis Colts fired Frank Reich and replaced him with coaching novice Jeff Saturday.
