Traders instantly react to the data (sometimes wildly so), especially when the actual numbers are distinctly different than estimates. Thus, historically, XLU has been correlated with the direction of treasury bonds (which move in the opposite direction of bond yields). Here's a chart with XLU and the TLT 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF, which we're using since it's the most widely traded treasury bond ETF. From 2022 through 2023, XLU and TLT moved in the same direction more often than not. Another reason is simply that investors are aggressively seeking yield producing instruments, with the understanding that bond yields were destined to fall.

India accuses Samsung, Xiaomi of colluding with Amazon, Flipkart

Samsung, Xiaomi and other smartphone companies colluded with Amazon and Walmart's Flipkart to exclusively launch products on the e-commerce firms' Indian websites in breach of antitrust laws, according to regulatory reports seen by Reuters. In Flipkart's case, a 1,696-page CCI report said the Indian units of Samsung, Xiaomi, Motorola, Vivo, Lenovo and Realme conducted similar practices. Siva Prasad wrote in the Amazon and Flipkart reports, in identical findings. Amazon, Flipkart and the CCI did not respond, and have not so far commented on the reports' findings. Both the CCI reports said that during investigations Amazon and Flipkart "deliberately downplayed" allegations of exclusive launches, but officials found the practice was "rampant".

Before we get into the charts, it's important to discuss the process of choosing to write about TSLA this week. In other words, oftentimes, the most comprehensive method to locate constructive trade set-ups is reviewing a big list and taking note of the charts that look attractive. That's why I frequently intentionally do NOT look at the chart's stock symbol while going through a long list. I want the chart, and only the chart, to be the factor that influences my decision to potentially buy or sell it. Thus, seeing the above potential breakout attempt come to fruition would have a meaningful impact on its longer-term trend, too.

The Federal Reserve has telegraphed the kickoff of their interest rate cutting campaign to begin next week. I believe a quarter-point interest rate cut is their first step but, a half-point interest rate cut (which has the ability to roil markets) has recently been floated strongly. The Nasdaq-100 dropped 6% last week and is now up nearly 5% this week, these are not normal market conditions. QQQ YTD mountain Invesco QQQ Trust, YTD The Cboe Volatility Index , yet elevated, is not showing current signs of panic. CNN —A nearly four-year-old legal effort by Black voters to convince a court to prevent former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party from potentially intimidating voters and poll workers is quietly coming back to life as the 2024 election approaches. First brought in the days following the 2020 election, the lawsuit has moved slowly through the federal courts in Washington, DC, as Trump’s claims of presidential immunity from civil lawsuits were being litigated. It coincidently has landed before US District Judge Tanya Chutkan, the judge handling the federal election subversion charges against Trump. Attorneys for Trump and the RNC have asked to dismiss the case, saying any conduct at issue constitutes protected political speech. A federal judge found the two men liable for targeting Black voters in 2023, saying that their actions ran afoul of the KKK Act, the VRA and other laws.

The Technology Select Sector Index, which the ETF 'XLK ' tracks, is down about 9% since the all-time high on July 10. This is even though the technology sector earnings have experienced a compound annual growth rate 2.7% greater than the S & P 500. The chart below reflects the earnings growth of the Technology Sector vs. the S & P 500 over the past 20 years in a log scale. Not only has the technology sector grown earnings faster, but earnings growth has also been more stable. The company's innovation pipeline provide long-term growth potential, with the earnings event likely serving as a catalyst for further upside. With expected EPS growth of 14% and revenue growth of 11%, Adobe maintain its leadership in the software industry. To capitalize on the potential for an earnings-driven rally, we suggest using a "broken wing butterfly," which offers a high reward-to-risk ratio. Specifically, I suggest the ADBE Sep 20, 2024 $585/630/650 Call butterfly at $10.96 Debit. This strategy entails: • Buying the Sep 20 $585 Calls @ $18.80 • Selling the Sep 20 $630 Calls (2 contracts) @ $5.53 • Buying the Sep 20 $650 Calls @ $3.22 This butterfly strategy offers a maximum reward of $3,404 per contract while limiting risk to only $1,096 per contract.

But the stock quickly dropped to find new support around $210, eventually settling into a trading range between $200 and $240. This price range lines up well with previous resistance from 2023, adding further conviction to the importance of these levels. But if RUN can finally break above the $24 level, that would mean clear skies ahead from a technical perspective. While solar stocks still have much to prove, their technical configurations suggest investors should watch this space closely leading into the November elections. Adobe's Creative Cloud subscription model generates recurring revenue and maintains a solid customer base, from freelancers to large enterprises. Adobe's Document Cloud, featuring Acrobat and PDF solutions, is critical in digital document management and e-signatures. Of course, any bears out there could also use a calendar to bet on a downside move, using a $500 Sep/Jan put calendar. Combining the call and put calendar is a trade I usually refer to as a strangle swap.

New York CNN —For DirecTV subscribers frustrated by the loss of ESPN and other Disney-owned channels, the TV provider is offering some compensation as the blackout stretches into its third day. The company is offering credits of at least $20 to customers who have DirecTV, DirecTV Stream and U-Verse services — but customers won’t get the credit automatically. They must go to a special website and apply for it using their account’s email, and the credit will show up on a future bill. “We’re pursuing every avenue to get your station back,” DirecTV said on the website. “The Walt Disney Co. is once again refusing any accountability to consumers, distribution partners, and now the American judicial system,” Rob Thun, chief content officer at DirecTV, said in a previous statement.

watch nowAs the 2024 U.S. elections reach their home stretch, crypto companies are opening their wallets to try and influence the results. Nearly half of all the corporate money flowing into the election has come from the crypto industry, according to a report this week from the nonprofit watchdog group Public Citizen. More than 90% of the corporate crypto cash that's been raised was brought in this election cycle. Public Citizen's report found that of the 42 primary races that attracted money from crypto-backed super PACs, the candidate picked by the crypto industry won 36. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's speech gave the stock market a jolt higher, reaffirming expectations for interest rate cuts going forward.
