A video showing a June 2023 paragliding accident in South Korea has been wrongly described online as footage of a Hamas paraglider crashing into a power line while trying to enter Israel in October. Israel bombed Gaza and vowed to annihilate the Hamas movement after the Palestinian group attacked Israel on Oct. 7. “Unsuccessful landing of a Hamas paraglider straight on a power line in Israel,” reads an Oct. 11 post on messaging platform X, formerly known as Twitter, sharing a black and white version of a video of a paraglider crashing into an electricity pole giving rise to a plume of smoke. Chinese media outlets shared screenshots of the same video to show news of the paragliding accident. Video does not show a Hamas paraglider crashing into a power line in Israel.

Overview: Forecast or fantasyWe're now at least two years on from when a slew of space companies went public during the SPAC frenzy, and, look, none of them look great. Now a bit further down the road, I want to look at a different financial metric: 2023 revenue projections. I ran an informal series for a while to mark when a space company announced it was going public. The rest of the pack isn't as on the mark: A few companies are roughly halfway to their earlier 2023 revenue projections, or performing even better. Spire forecast 2023 revenue of $227 million and is closing in on about $107 million.

Sept 30 (Reuters) - A semi-truck carrying thousands of gallons of a toxic substance crashed in southern Illinois, and the multi-vehicle accident killed five people and left five seriously injured, officials said on Saturday. Early estimates indicated that 4,000 gallons were spilled, leading to about 500 people being evacuated from the area, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency said. The accident led to an evacuation within a mile's radius of the crash due to the plume from ammonia leak, state police said. Illinois State Police said it was notified about the crash "involving multiple vehicles, including a semi-truck that is leaking anhydrous ammonia." CNN —A building block of life may exist inside the global ocean on Europa, one of Jupiter’s icy moons. Scientists have long questioned whether Europa’s ocean contained carbon and other chemicals necessary for life. Astronomers used the Webb telescope to observe Jupiter's icy moon Europa. Carbon dioxide appears to be concentrated in a region of “chaos terrain” on Europa called Tara Regio. Future observations of Europa with the Webb Telescope could help astronomers determine whether there are other concentrated regions of carbon dioxide on the surface, Trumbo said.

CNN —At least 20 people - mostly mine workers - were killed in South Africa’s Limpopo province on Sunday after a bus they were traveling in erupted in flames following a head-on collision with a truck, state media reported. The Limpopo transport department said on Monday 20 people were confirmed dead on the scene while two others died at the hospital. The vehicles collided on a major road between Musina town and Venetia mine in the northern Limpopo province, the transport agency added. Videos from the scene of the bus crash posted on social media showed bodies lying scattered on the ground and a plume of black smoke coming from the bus. In February, around 20 people were killed in a head-on crash between a bus and a cash-in-transit van, officials said at the time.

The attacks come a day after Kyiv said it seriously damaged a Russian submarine and landing ship undergoing repairs in a missile strike on a shipyard in the Crimean port of Sevastopol, home to the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
