ISLAMABAD — Two Chinese nationals were killed in an explosion near the international airport of the southern Pakistani city of Karachi on Sunday night, the Chinese embassy in Pakistan said, in what it described as a "terrorist attack." The Chinese embassy said a convoy from the Port Qasim Electric Power Company was attacked near the airport. Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said a Chinese national was also injured and that an investigation was underway. It has previously killed Chinese citizens working in the region and attacked Beijing’s consulate in Karachi. Video showed flames coming from underneath a Frontier flight that made a hard landing in Las Vegas after reports of smoke in the cockpit Saturday, officials said. Flight 1326 was on its way from San Diego to Las Vegas when "the pilots detected smoke and declared an emergency," Frontier said in a statement. CNN —A Frontier Airlines flight seemed to catch fire as it made what officials described as a “hard landing” at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas on Saturday. The plane “experienced a hard landing where basically tires blew,” airport officials told CNN. Video obtained by CNN shows flames underneath the plane and a trail of smoke after it landed. The Clark County Fire Department responded immediately, and all the passengers and crew were safely transported to the gate area, airport officials added. The National Transportation Safety Board will also investigate the incident, according to a Saturday statement from the agency posted on X.

Although the typhoon has weakened, the threats from a storm surge, strong winds and rain remain as it slowly makes its way toward Taiwan’s coast, weather forecasters said. Once it hits land, the typhoon could be downgraded into a tropical depression and dissipate, which has happened only once before in Taiwan, in 2001, forecasters said. New York CNN —Southwest Airlines’ substantial changes to its business and boarding process are coming – but not for a while. Southwest announced in July it would move away from the open seating model it has been known for throughout its 53-year history. It also announced it would offer premium seating for the first time. Part of the reason Southwest isn’t rolling out its assigned seating model sooner is that premium seating will take some time to reconfigure in the planes.
