The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a group of entertainment journalists from overseas that, despite frequent missteps, built the Golden Globe Awards into a marquee event, died on Monday after a series of scandals. was announced after California officials agreed to a complicated reorganization plan that will allow the Golden Globe Awards to continue. Eldridge Industries, a holding company owned by the billionaire investor Todd Boehly, and Dick Clark Productions, which is part of Penske Media, agreed to buy the foreign press association’s Golden Globe assets for an undisclosed price. The proceeds will go to a new nonprofit, the Golden Globe Foundation, which will continue the H.F.P.A.’s philanthropic efforts; it gave more than $50 million to entertainment-related charities over the last three decades. Members of the foreign press association — primarily freelance entertainment journalists — will become employees of a yet-to-be-named for-profit entity that will try to expand the Golden Globes as a brand, according to an Eldridge spokesman.

“That’s going to be a battle we all have to fight in the next couple of years: Defending our human capital against AI,” he added. Contentious debate over AI songs has arisen in the music industry over the last few months, with several high-profile figures being affected by the growth in the technology’s popularity. I imagine I will feel the same way about AI making music,” said Sting. But for songs, you know, expressing emotions, I don’t think I will be moved by it,” he added. Universal Music Group, which represents Sting, likened AI music to “fraud” in an urgent letter sent to music streaming platforms, such as Spotify and Apple Music, in April.

CNN —Kevin Costner and his wife of over 18 years Christine Baumgartner have announced they are going their separate ways. Costner and Baumgartner share three children, and Costner also has four other children from previous relationships, including with his first wife Cindy Silva, to whom he was married from 1978 to 1994. In February, one month after Costner won a Golden Globe for his performance on “Yellowstone,” he made reference to his wife on social media, who helped celebrate his achievement when they were unable to attend the awards event due to flooding near their home. “We watched from home and it wasn’t the same,” Costner said in a video as he recounted what it was like to watch the show remotely.

Vintage Red-Carpet Looks Are Having a Moment

With awards season in full swing comes the red-carpet photo dump of picture-perfect celebrities: Hours have been spent on hair and makeup; limbs are dripping in six-figure jewels; and couture finery abounds. But on Instagram, a different, less fussy era of red-carpet dressing has begun to hold sway via accounts that serve as scrapbooks of what celebrities once wore. The 2002 MTV Video Music Awards as a new fashion touchstone, for example? A post last year on New York stylist and vintage fashion archivist Gabriel Held’s Instagram feed suggested as much, with a carousel of images featuring the likes of Molly Sims and Ashanti in various hip bone–baring, low-slung styles emblematic of the early aughts. “I feel like the Gen Z kids are at a point now where they’re kind of referencing the era that they were born in,” says Held.
Can the Red Carpet Ever Be Fun Again?

Comedian Joan Rivers once ruled the red carpet with her colorful-yet-polarizing hosting style. When actor Andrew Garfield and YouTube comedian-turned-red carpet host Amelia Dimoldenberg engaged in sparkling repartee about astrological signs on this year’s Golden Globes red carpet, it exposed an urgent need: a nation famished for banter. How did we get to the great carpet-charm drought of 2023? Amid fear of sounding shallow or otherwise getting canceled during a live event tracked by social media, denizens of this Sunday’s Oscars may have long forgotten the red carpet’s onetime freewheeling magic.
LONDON, March 6 (Reuters) - From classic tuxedos to shiny jumpsuits, menswear has dazzled on the red carpets this awards season, sometimes even attracting the most attention with eye-catching looks. Singer Harry Styles arrived at the Grammy Awards in a chest-baring sparkling harlequin jumpsuit, while Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan has chosen ensembles in pale blue and red as his style choices for the Golden Globes and British Academy of Film (BAFTA) Awards. While classic suits and tuxedos are still a red carpet staple, menswear now features plenty of variety and bolder choices - vibrant colours, sparkling embroidery or detailing, as fashion favourite, actor Timothee Chalamet has often demonstrated with his non-traditional outfits. Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne has won style accolades for his red carpet choices this awards season, which culminates with Sunday's Oscars. Asked what she thought of men's fashion this award season, Oscar nominee Michelle Yeoh told Reuters last month: "I love it."
"Ted Lasso" has won multiple Emmy awards and Golden Globes for its first two seasons, but this month it's getting something new: an official ice cream flavor. The hit Apple TV+ series has partnered with Ohio-based Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams to put out a new limited edition flavor just in time for the premiere of the show's third season. CNBC Make It tried out the new ice cream ahead of its release. The collaboration has been in the works for about a year, representatives for Jeni's tell CNBC Make It, and it will be available at all Jeni's Scoop Shops. Customers who don't live near a scoop shop will be able to order the flavor off the Jeni's website for $12 per pint.
While the Golden Globes brought several notable nominations and wins for Black performers in television and film, this year’s Oscar nominations look very different. “Till,” starring Danielle Deadwyler as Mamie Till-Mobley, chronicles the 14-year-old’s mother during her quest for justice after her child was brutally murdered. The film earned no Academy Award nominations. “Wakanda Forever” also failed to match the best picture nod earned by 2018’s “Black Panther” — the first superhero movie nominated for the top Oscar. Bassett is also the second oldest Black woman ever nominated for an acting Oscar, behind supporting actress nominee Ruby Dee, who appeared in 2007’s “American Gangster.”

In 2021, 6.9 million people tuned in to the Hollywood awards show. NBC's viewership figures for Tuesday night's ceremony do not include people who watched on Comcast's Peacock streaming service. All of Hollywood's major awards shows have seen their TV ratings sink in recent years, along with most viewership on traditional television. Back in January 2020, the Globes attracted 18.3 million TV viewers. While TV viewership declined, the network said Golden Globes content on E!
Yeoh's moment was refreshing for Jeon, a self-proclaimed assertive Asian American woman. And for Asian women, who contend with historical pressures from within the community and beyond to make themselves small, Yeoh’s quip had a deeper meaning. She simultaneously represented other Asian women who are more compelled to speak their minds. Jeon, for example, said that she has often been reminded by loved ones to tone down her personality in spaces within the Asian American community. While many women are taught to downplay their strengths, particularly in front of men, Yeoh flexed her might in those five words.

From start to finish, Tuesday's 80th annual Golden Globe Awards was a very queer affair. Here are some of the evening's queerest (and gay Twitter meme-worthy) moments. The 26-year-old actor, who already has two Emmy awards for the same role, was not present to accept her Golden Globe.
